  1. I have a massive birdsnest that gets purplish polyps with light green ends to the branches. Constantly breaking it and throwing pieces away, it's taking over. If you're up my way and want some give me a yell and I can cut off end chunks the size of small colonies.
  2. Yeah, it seemed like people were in and out there all weekend keeping Richard busy, that's always a good thing when you're in business though. He was very helpful and flexible when it came to me not really knowing what time I was going to be out that way. Will see if I can get pictures to post up.
  3. Love it. I saw the 300g stock tank at tractor supply this weekend and was thinking the same thing.
  4. Made my first trip to see Richard over the weekend. Corals all looked great and Richard was extremely helpful and informative. Prices were great. Loved it, will be back soon. All corals were open and looking good as soon as they went in my tank. Thanks for the great service and the hospitality.
  5. Thanks guys, moved it to my main tank where the light is stronger. It should get more food in that tank also with the amount of food I feed it, will also start spot feeding it some. Hopefully will recover. What are LPS pellets?
  6. I must be doing something wrong with Scoly's. Can someone please give me pointers of the care necessary to make one grow? Mine just seems to be wasting away.
  7. I think I'd tell them I expect a refund on the shipping. That's just crazy.
  8. I mounted some zoa's to a piece of tonga branch awhile back, they have already covered it and looks great in my tank.
  9. What he said plus add some fresh kalk powder to the reactor once or twice a week, about 1/3 cup, depending on usage to keep about 3/4" in the stirrer. Dump and clean out once a month.
  10. My old townhouse in Germantown had an adjustment at the water meter on the pressure relief valve, I had a plumber adjust it to 70 PSI which he said was as high as was allowed. At my house where I live now in Linthicum Heights, MD the pressure guage on my TIII says 50 and I don't have a adjustment at the meter, I do alright and my DI lasts quite awhile since I get a TDS post membrane of 3.
  11. Only thing I use API for is alkalinity. Calc and Mg I like either the salifert or Red Sea kits. I have occasionally tested for Potassium using the salifert kit.
  12. My fuge never even slowed down growing chaeto using this stuff. I didn't read that
  13. I used a bottle of it awhile back and it did nothing. After I added GFO to my system I decided to give it another try, after a couple of weeks all of the hair algae and bryopsis in my tank turned clear and died off. I used the remainder of the bottle and all was fine. Within a month of running out the bryopsis and hair algae was back and out of control again.
  14. Always enjoy your stories. I grew up with aquariums filled with minnows, crawfish, bluegill and the occasional turtle or darterfish caught from the local stream that my dad kept in the living room with the only light coming from sunlight through the window. Mom had storebought guppies with a incandescent hood in the TV room. I liked dad's tank better because I could add cool fish I caught to it.
  15. I live up by BWI airport, can scrape off some coralline for you or probably find a few empty shells or pieces of rocks from my tank.
  16. I didn't use enough glue on the side of the cone or attaching the cone to the base so had to reglue a couple of times until I managed to get it right. If you don't get the cone itself watertight it will spray water out of the pinholes when you put it under pressure...lol
  17. I just put one of these together, I don't live very far from you so if you need help just let me know and we can get together. One thing I can tell you is look at all the pictures, label all the parts with numbers and dry fit everything before you apply glue, be generous with the glue or you will be chasing leaks and drips when you fire it up.
  18. House of Tropicals in Glen Burnie, MD sells them
  19. Are you trying to start all of the MH's at the same time? Mine used to trip the DC8 breaker when I tried to turn more than one on at a time so I had to split the ballasts to allow me to turn each light on individually.
  20. I got the 100 micron ones that I had the link to, only problem is you have to order at least 25 but it's usually not hard to find a couple people that want some on here. I bought a dozen, change them out twice a week, scrub them in the sink with a brush and then put them in the washing machine. Are holding up pretty well even after a year of use.
  21. Copps recommended these to me and I've been very pleased with them: http://www.filterbag...00P4P-p845.html
  22. Exotic Aquatics closed a couple years ago, Phil, who used to own EA, is in the ownership of CTE Aquatics in Timonium.
  23. I bought the Red Sea Calc, Alk, Mg kit and find it very easy to read, the results have been comparable to my salifert test kits.
