  1. The neo zeo rocks are supposed to be put in a reactor to control the flow through them when maintaining a tank with the neo zeo system. There are also specific doses of MB7 and Bio-Fuel to go along with the media, amount of media, flow suggestion and dosage of MB7 and RBF are in the instructions on the products. If I was dosing the MB7 into the main tank I would mix it in a cup of water before dumping it in, since I have a sump most of the time I just dump the dosage straight into my sump in the inflow area and let it dilute itself. I have had good luck with the neo zeo taking care of my nitrate and phosphates. I just use the MB7, RBF and stones, I didn't see any difference when I added in the CoralAmino or the Vit C in my tank.
  2. You might be a redneck reefer...if you have a spittoon sitting on your aquarium stand and it is not for decoration.
  3. My original neptune probe lasted probably 3 years, longer than the temp probe did, I'm on my first replacement probe which is a BRS probe, I find I need to calibrate it more often but it's readings have been logical.
  4. I never had any problem with my melanaurus jumping out of my tank but all wrasses are prone to be jumpers
  5. I add fresh kalk to my kalk reactor usually once a week, about 10 heaping tsp or so. Beginning of every month I dump the reactor out, clean it and start fresh.
  6. They are in Congressional Plaza in Rockville, MD, on the lower level around back.
  7. I like my 180g tank since I can put 3 MH pendants over it and have it covered. I like the Marineland 4'x3' tank but just couldn't figure out how to light the thing with MH's effeciently without dark spots or too many lights, I'd had t5's and figured they would be good to light it with 2 fixtures but wanted to go back to MH's.
  8. More members on here have the neptune systems controllers so if you need help with a problem it's easier to get help so I would go with the APEX
  9. I've got some coral frenzy but am almost out.
  10. Where is the Reef Chili on their website? Can't seem to find it and have been looking for a place to purchase some to try since BRS has been out of stock for some time
  11. I had one of the medium size CPR ones on my 75, had it hanging on the back of the tank for awhile and also had it hanging on the side of the acrylic sump, never had any problems with it hanging either place.
  12. I hope you have a check valve on your return lines. If I tried to do that my refugium would overflow from the backflow from the tank when the power goes out.
  13. If I saw one of my heaters flashing like that I'd just toss it, better safe than sorry later
  14. half cup of IO per gallon usually gets me to around 1.021 and I have to add more salt
  15. The hanging kit will have instructions, follow them and you won't have a problem. Hardest part is figuring out exactly where to drill the holes in the ceiling for the light to hang straight since most walls aren't square so it won't work to measure off of the wall. Go to the store and get a plumb bob, lay the light on the tank where you want it and drop the plumb bob down from the ceiling and move it around until it is over the mounting hole, mark, check for stud, drill or screw as applicable.
  16. I took mine down to change bulbs, used to open the doors on the stand and lay the light on them to change the bulbs out. You should order a hanging kit designed for the light fixture, they usually come with ceiling anchors, and usually a adjustable wire. I have a hanging kit for a sunlight supply T5 light around here somewhere that may work, it's worked on 2 different T5 fixtures. I think I had mine about 8"-10" off the water but to be that close it has to have a splash shield to keep the water out
  17. I ran my T5 light for about 12 hrs a day, 1.5 hr actinic only, 9 hrs all 8 bulbs, 1.5 hrs actinic only. Will look when I get home and see what bulbs I used, one thing that jumps out at me is to move the ge 6500K bulb one slot forward in the light. If your light works like my old T5 the outer 4 bulbs are on one switch and the inner 4 on the other switch is this correct?
  18. I used T5's on my 75g tank when I had it set up. Went cheap and got a Sunlight Supply 8x54 light but I really liked the light and it did well for me. Put 250w MH on my 180 when I set it up.
  19. Silversides are a much better food for saltwater animals than goldfish. I usually see them in a bag that has been quick frozen so they thaw out pretty nice. I used to buy shrimp off of the truck from NC on the side of the road and feed them to my grouper, sometimes peeled, sometimes whole
  20. Goldfish are not very nutritious, especially for a saltwater predator. I would try to get him switched over to eating shrimp, krill or clams, I used to feed shrimp to my panther grouper, he never touched squid either
  21. I seem to understand that this reactor supposedly makes my ozone generator work more efficiently. I don't understand what this reactor is supposed to do or what it is for, can someone explain better? Does water constantly run through this all the time? I'd have to get another pump to run water through the reactor and plumb the reactor output to the input of my carbon reactor, if I am assuming correctly that it has water running through it all the time, if not I'd need a second carbon reactor? I'd have to replace my small air pump with a much larger and more expensive luft pump, or do I still input air from my small pump to the generator and need to have another luft pump to put air into this reactor? Currently I have my ACIII set up to turn on the air pump and ozone generator based on the orp reading of my tank and the ozone is injected into my skimmer air intake.
  22. Let me know how that one works, I bought the 65w version today, really puts out alot of light
