  1. Cool vids man. Nice and tranquil. How much flow do you have in the tank?
  2. Make sure you have the power cord to the Vortech connected to something. If it were to loose its connection with the inside piece, it looks like it'd drop straight into the sump. Even if they are lined up perfectly, I've still had them randomly separate on me.

    Scales

Not "pretty much". There doors are officially closed.
  4. Does anyone have weights I can borrow for this weekend for diving class?? I can offer some zoa frags for rental fees. I work a 24hour shift tomorrow, so if I could pick them up tonight it'd be appreciated. Please let me know. Thanks.
  5. I'm sure they might not be as colorful as the pic on DF&S, but look at this: http://www.nyaquatic.com/servlet/the-280/P...-Basslet/Detail Anybody want to split shipping with me and get a couple?
  6. So go to Scales and get a 120gal for maybe $100 and set yourself up a monster fuge.
  7. Very nice. Interesting to see Deltec producing a nonrecirculating skimmer. So is the in-sump version a non-recirc and the external version a recirc?? From the pic of the two pump skimmer, it looks like the bottom chamber where the pumps pull water from has an exit on the side of the pump. So technically, they wouldn't be recirc pumps?? Interesting. Never thought I'd see Deltec move away from recirc pumps. I'd definitely like to see one of these in action. So when can we expect to see one up and running on one of your systems?
  8. Gotcha. Wasn't thinking about only two sides needing to be starfire, or the fact that internal overflows would take up alot of room in a 36" long tank. Can't wait to see it in place.
  9. Can't wait to see it. Curious to know if you had considered just getting one of those Deep Dimensions tanks made by Marineland, and if so, why'd you opt to go with the custom tank?
  10. Why not? I've got an Orco 250 on around 200gallons. Working great.
  11. Didn't you have a Deltec?? Why the skimmer switch?
  12. Ummmmm, holy cow. Didn't I only give you 1 or 2 polyps of this one? That was only a month or so ago wasn't it? In regards to the scraping the overflow, I have one of those long Kent scrapers with the plastic blade and it works great on my smaller acrylic tank. Should also be good on your plastic overflow. You still have the PPE right?
  13. You should scrape the coraline off the back panels. You'd be surprised how it'll make the pics of your corals really stand out against a clean background. Looking good though. How are those zoas doing?
  14. I would say yes. I had three in a 180gal at one point, then when I downgraded to a 92gal I tried to keep all three and had issues with them fighting. I'm sure it all depends on the fish though. Like us, they all have different personalities too. I'd do what Chip did. Start with small babies and see what happens.
  15. Justin's tank will be a good fit for the fish. If you take a look at his thread in the dedicated tank pages, you'll see he has monster tank to accomadate the fish forever. FYI, it looks like you're technically getting out of the hobby, so selling of the livestock is ok in the general forum in this instance.
  16. That should work great. Works on main tank overflows. I'd try some larger tubing if you have it though, so as to prevent salt creep from clogging the line down the road.
  17. That's exactly what I was thinking. Since you extended the PVC of the outflow, the water has to travel a farther distance and might be what's causing the siphoning effect. I'm sure making the PVC smaller in diameter could be contributing to the siphon effect as well. Do you have a smaller maxijet to try on it. Maybe if there was less water being pumped through the skimmer, it would help to not cause the siphoning effect, but you'd have to restrict the outflow even more than way.
  18. You got it. 6-line and a Melanurus is what I had for the longest time and they helped keep me pest free. Both were constantly scouring the rockwork. I loved seeing them pick off those mini bristle stars. Cool stuff. I'm sure they'd demolish those little suckers you got.
  19. So do you have any wrasses to help keep pests at bay? I've always had a sixline and a Melanurus wrasse in my tanks, and I've never had issues with stuff like this (knock on wood). I think sixlines are the best. Mine were always scouring all over the rock looking for food. I always saw them picking off baby bristleworms and mini bristlestars out the rock. I've read plenty places that they definitely help keep these types of pests at bay. I've never QT'd corals either and have never seen any pests in my tank.
  20. Hey Doug, I'm probably getting out of the hobby in the next few months. I'd like to think I have a decent collection of sps. I'll make sure to cut you frags of everything I have before I sell it off.
  21. Definitely doable. I had 3 pairs in a 180gal at one point. Each clown pair had its own anemone, so they never really traveled far from their "home" to get into troubles. I had one anenome on each end of the tank, and a 3rd long tentacle anem in the middle of the tank located in the sandbed. The clowns really never came in contact with each other. Other than the random occasions the fish would travel far from their anemone to grab food.
  22. Your tank has come a loooooong way David. Your sps growth in the last few months has been pretty impressive. Keep up the good work.
