  1. I swear I saw one of those for only $200 when I drove up to That Pet Place. I was an amazing looking fish. Diver's Den is so overpriced. Our LFS usually crush their prices, on just about everything.
  2. The creatures on this planet never cease to amaze me. That is definitely one of the craziest animals I've ever seen. Right out of a science fiction movie. Wonder if Copps can get me one? Seems as though he can get just about anything in the sea. I've been looking to setup a species tank too
  3. Very cool . I'd send you a PM asking about buying the second one, but I'm sure you've had about a dozen offers by now
  4. I saw this tank again the other night. Truly one of Wamas' nicest tanks. I wish I could get a piece of every coral in that tank, especially the chalices. Two thumbs up for your hard work.
  5. Sounds like you could benefit from installing a 36X36X20 tank. That would give you quite a bit more space for coral placement
  6. What ballast are you running that Radium on?? If its not one of the new model icecaps, or a coralvue ballast, you're probably underdriving the ballast which is why it looks so blue. There was a HUGE difference in color in my 250 Radium when I switched from the old icecap ballast to a coralvue. Alot more crisp white, and less blue, but still with a "pop" of blue florescence.
  7. Use a maxijet to clean out your sump. Hook up one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/Loc-Line-2-1-2-Flare-N...93%3A2|294%3A50 to the intake of the maxijet, and you can vacuum the bottom perfectly clean. I saw BRK doing this with their tanks so I copied their idea. Works great.
  8. I will say that not all GFO is created equal. Someone gave me half a container of the D-D Rowaphos and just a little bit made a huge dent in my phophate levels. I've used the regular old pelleted GFO before and not had nearly the same results. I just recently bought some of the "high capacity" GFO from bulkreefsupply.com and it looks very similar, if not identicle, to the Rowaphos. I haven't used any yet, but when it comes time to replace my GFO I'll let you know how it holds up.
  9. How high were your phosphates before you started using phosphate remover?? I had a very large explosion in growth when I first started used GFO.
  10. Awesome looking fish. Have you go it to host in an anemone yet?
  11. I'm pretty that means if you buy 5 boxes, then the price of each box drops to $209.99 per box.
  12. I thought it was 12 months if on an icecap ballast, 16 months for any other ballast. Don't quote me on that though.
  13. I love my seaswirls. I've had one on my tanks for quite some time. Nice and simple. Not too many parts to break. Nice simple way to add some radomized flow in your tank. A dart is rated for 3000gph, but how high are you pumping the water?? With gph loss from height and from 90 degree angles and such, you might be good with two of the 1" versions. Used seaswirls are very common to find over on RC. I'd check there before you drop the loot on new ones. Just an idea.
  14. By the way, was there any lasting damage to the light?
  15. You will like the Phoenix 14K bulb. I think its by far the nicest looking DE bulb.
  16. You also don't have to get a "in-sump" only model. You could also get a decent recirculating skimmer that you can house next to, or outside, your sump. You would just need a separate pump to feed water into the skimmer, like a maxi-jet or something. The the outflow of the skimmer flows back into your sump. Great for those with limited space in their sump. Here is a pretty good skimmer for only $100. http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=26887 If its still available that is. If not, just pay attention to the boards to catch anything good that might come along. Unfortunately there's been alot of people getting out recently.
  17. Stay away from most hang on the back skimmers. Most of them truly suck, at least compared to in-sump skimmers. The only exception to the rule is the Deltec MCE600, which is a beast of a HOB skimmer. The Remora HOB skimmers are ok, but I wasn't too impressed. Others on here swear by them. Probably would be good enough for smaller tanks. What do you plan on keeping?
  18. Not understanding your comments here. Pretty sure fans increase the amount of evaporation of your system. Honestly, 1 gallon of evaporation is pretty low for a system of your size. My 92gal easily goes through 2+ gallons a day in RO water. Also, how long was the sand and rock in there before you added all those fish??
  19. Honestly, if you don't have the money to get something decent, you should save up until you can get something good. I know waaaayyyyy too many of us here have gone the cheap route in the beginning, and it did nothing but cost us more money in the long run. Trust me, you think you're getting a deal with those lights, but you're not. I'm speaking from experience. Don't buy cheap equipment. Sit and stalk the boards until a good used piece of equipment comes up for sale.
  20. This is the best one so far:
  21. Out of curiosity, you don't think there will be any negative effects of removing that much rock at one time?? That's alot of filtration that was removed.
  22. My dog once pooped on the floor while I was in Petsmart. It was right after he got out of dog-training classes at the store. Let me tell you, those trainers work wonders with dogs. Here is a pic of the poo my dog left: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I've never doubt my dog's love again.
  23. I thought the two main sources of silica were from either having a silica based sand in your system or by not getting all of the silica out of your tap water. When was the last time you changed your DI resin???
  24. For a 6' long tank, I don't think you'll get anywhere near the spread you need with just two metal halide bulbs, even when using high-end reflectors. The light just doesn't disperse that much.
