Guess they don't graze on Hair Algae

So what is Stomatella good for ? I seem to have quite a few of them, Saw 3 on one rock this morning.

To elaborate on my experience with "Old bulbs/lighting fixtures" FIRE So I had a retro fit T5 (six 54" ) on my Oceanic 156 with a hood. It was running just fine for over 1 year, no problem what so ever, every thing was thriving. Then one day at work, I got a call from my wife saying the tank was on fire ! My neighbor came with a fire extinguisher and managed to put out the burning hood. Hood was destroyed but tank survives to this day. Fire extinguisher chemical got into to tank so I will leave the out come to your imagination - total crash - except for a Maroon Clown that still lives today. Based on previous threads, I understand that they are mortal. I have discussed this with many folks before and I think the best explanation is that salt creep got to the old retro fit, caused a short circuit, heating up the wooden hood .... I had the T-5's connected to Icecap that were mounted on wooded strips which probably caught fire when the Icecap shorted.

I have noticed this slug like creatures in my tank for some time, just never had the chance to take a picture of it since they are pretty quick to disappear into the rock work. What do you guys think it is ? It moves faster than a snail and the 2nd picture shows that the shell, assuming it is a shell, is only about half of it.

I have had this torch for over 6 mths. In the last few days, I noticed that the base looking like it is tearing way. I have had it at the same place all this time so I don't think it is too much flow that is an issue. Nothing has changed in the tank. Added a large Sally light foot about 3 weeks ago but I don't think that would be an issue.

I don't think LEDs are the problem since I have had many Rics for years under LEDs and I've yet to lose one.

The Zoas are around the mushrooms, all closed up; may be difficult to see on an iPhone.. Looks like spongy stuff. Water parameters are all ok, NO3 a is high at 10 ppm but this has always been high, in fact it is lowers than usual due to lack of constant over feeding by my daughter and wife. I have many others Zoas and they are all doing fine.

So I return from a 3 week vacation to found my primary reef if pretty good shape, considering that my neighbor who was looking after it does not even have a fish tank. Causalities were 2 cleaner shrimps, flame scallop and a mandarin. No signs of them as the clean up crew really did clean up. Wondering if the lack of skimmer maintenance caused their demise. One weird thing was that while all my corals are fine, one rock which was filled with zoas just become what you see below. I have moved it to a higher location hoping that light would help. I also noticed that the polyps seem to have some gluey looking stuff between them. Is this some kind of dsease ? If so should I remove this rock ?

So it looks like my Cheato is dying. I think I will dump it all and start fresh. Any one near by with too much Cheato ? I don't think my lighting is the problem since I have not changed it and it was doing great for about 2 months. Under the same light it more than doubled in size in just a few weeks. Have made any change to the system.

I used to have too much, now I only have about 2 hand full. Every 2 weeks about 50% seem to look bad and I would remove that; so soon I will only have 1 hand full. This is why I am thinking of just removing it totally.

Fudge has compact flor about 12 hrs a day, same timer as DT lights. Harvested, no. removed because it looked bad, yes

This spring, I started cheato in my fudge from a fellow member. My NA was almost 100 ppm then. The Cheato grew likey crazy back then. Now my NA is under 10 and the Cheato has shrunk to just a think 1in layer and looks real bad. Not rotten but a far cry from what it was. Since the water is no longer optimal for Cheato, should it be better for remove all the Cheato ? I am wondering if my cheato may actually be bad for the tank since it is rather sad looking, that the lack of NA is making it go bad. Oh the other hand, I have seen many members with 0 ppm NA have great Cheato.

My 156 runs on 2 Marineland reef lights. I have primarily softies. The SPS I got from the FF are doing ok, but I put them on the top.

My GBTA also stung my OB so I can relate; thanks for the advise Coral Hind. I understand that Hammer's and Torch also have a pretty deadly sting. What will happen if my BTA gets to my Hammer Frogspawns or Torch ? Who will win ?

I just checked and the expiration date is 2015. Thought I share this. My cleaners have molted many times over the years but I have never seen such as perfect molt greet me in the morning.

I ordered from BRS the Ocean Wonders Reef Epoxy. When it arrived it was in a zip lock bay with two of these poaches. Contents say Potassium Chloride, why ? I had ordered Reef epoxy before and they never came with any accompanying packaging. Does any one know why these were packed with the Reef epoxy ?

Thanks to Frag fest last week, I now have Favia and Chalice. I have never has such frags before, like thick mosaic tiles. Do you attach them to a rock and have them encrust the rock? Does it take a very long time to for them to grow ? I am sure they don’t spread quickly like Xenia. Where would be the best place to put these, do they require lots of light ?

What is the best position for Acans ? Hi or low light ? Flow ?
