  1. I have always used Salifert test kits. I also hate having to figure the reading by viewing the different shades of color. I am therefore considering getting the Millaukee Phosphate tester instead of a Salifert. Price is about twice that of the Salifert but it has a LED reading of the phosphate level. Link to this item-> http://www.aquacave.com/MINI-Photometer-Phosphate-low-range-MW-12-by-Milwaukee-Instruments-P3109.aspx?ItemId=2390429 Has anyone use this before ? Is it really that simple -> put in regent and out comes the ppm level ?
  2. As for water quality, at least in my case, Nitrates are clearly not an issue. My 16G is exploding with BTAs and Nitrates is over 100 ! My clowns are thriving in it, laying eggs every week.
  3. My don't feed my anemones at all. The one I have in my 156 wondered for a few days and stop moving; it has stayed in the same spot for over 2 years. Maybe when you don't feed it, it will wonder to a place where it feels it has the right amount of flow, light and food from fishes and decide to stay put. Idea here is leave it alone and let it find it's ideal spot with out human intervention. For this reason, I have not touched any of the rock work around it. I do have corals so it's moving can cause major issues.
  4. Yep, it is in the Frag / QT tank just for observation. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
  5. A few weeks ago, I started a 10G frag tank that also doubles as a QT. I needed some thing to eat the algae in this frag tank and also wanted to get a Lawnmower Blenny for my 156. One week ago I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone, got the Blenny for controlling algae in the frag tank and using the frag tank as QT before transferring it to the 156. Good news is that this Blenny quickly adapted to it's new surrounding and is obviously feeding. Bad news it the amount of poop it produces in 24 hrs. The picture below shows that tank 24 hrs after I had clean the entire bottom. From the amount of poop it produces in 24 hrs, I am not sure if I got a fish or horse ! Good news is that my Nitrate is still next to zero, over sized HOB filter doing it's job. This Blenny was at the LFS for a week before I got it. Is has been with me for a week and is happily settled. I understand that the QT time can vary. Not having QT a fish before, does this QT time vary based on the demeanor of the fish and type of fish ? I am sure this Blenny will be much happier in the 156G with lots of Hair Algae to munch on . On the other hand, I have and an experience when a little bi color blenny wiped out half my 156G population! Never went to that LFS again for fish. How many of you would transfer him to the DT now or wait another week or more ? Oh, I got 2 turbos to handle the algae in the frag tank yesterday.

  8. Does the brand of Vodka matter ?
  9. You hit the question that has always been at the back of my mind ! I always use titanium heaters after breaking too many glass ones due to carelessness. How do you know when you have to replace a titanium heater ?
  10. Do you guys think a snail will be able to help this ? Or is it a lost cause that only a fish can help ?

  12. From what I have heard, I like the idea of a snail or two. Question I have is that I see hair like algae growing on the frags themselves ( not hair algae ), will a snail get on to frags and eat these ?
  13. Since that individual is a frequent WAMAS follower ...... I am having a hard time recalling his / her name Sand ? You have sand in a frag tank ?
  14. I just started a 10G frag tank a few weeks ago. What fish would be recommended for this tank to keep algae in check ? LFS suggested a damsel, would any damsel do ? If so I am thinking of the electric blue ones.
  15. Not quite sure what I can do about permissions, maybe the moderator can. I don't think there is anything wrong with this Hammer, just wondering what this opening is. It returns to its "normal" being, like the 1st pic, for most of the day.
  16. I've had my Wall Hammer for over a year now. It is doing great Recently, I noticed this when the lights first come on and the tentacles are not yet fully extended. Is this the mouth of a Wall Hammer, assuming they have one ? If so, is this where I can feed it ? Or is this the beginning of it spiting like an anemone ? Do Wall Hammers split ?

  19. Yep it's a pink spotted Goby. Before my tank crash, I previously had a yellow watch man goby. It never exhibited this behavior. Maybe it is something with the Pink spotted ones. I had have this Pink Spotted for over 6 months before it decided that hermits were nice to kidnap.
  20. This video was taken within an hour of the lights coming on. The 2 hermits you see were not the only ones around that den entry point. It is almost like they were all captured and spent the night wondering the tunnels, not knowing which way is out. Lights come on and they literally "see the light at the end of the tunnel"
  21. Actually the goby is stubborn, he has been doing this for a few days now. Or it could be just pain dumb => too bad for the hermits !
  22. My Goby knows that it's pistol shrimp uses rubble and shells to build their tunnels. It has recently decided that live hermits would also be fine, though my pistol shrimp does not agree. See these two videos, sorry for the burrness as I could not get my camera to focus ; think it's because it was at sharp angle, thus the glass was messing with the auto focus. 1 Goby captures hermit -> 2 Pistol shrimp returns hermit -> Anyone else has a similar situation ? Now I know where all my small hermits go. Wonder how may make it out of the cave of doom alive.
  23. I have the same problem with my Galaxy but mine was always at the top, never touching sand. Seems to be ok now but a far cry from it's glory days. I too wonder if it will ever grow back, Only happy that it has stopped dying.
  24. Bill Gates clips coupons ..........
  25. $200 a gallon ? What type of GFO is that ?
