Aptasia in bc overflow (can't reach) HELP!!!
WilRams replied to Rachell3210's topic in General Discussion
What kind of luck has the club had with Berghia Nudibranch? I feel like if it ever becomes an issue that's what I would try but they are not cheap that's for sure. -
Anyone have a loaner Apex unit sitting around?
WilRams replied to Reefer_Madness's topic in General Discussion
I have only had to contact them twice. Both times I received a copy and pasted statement despite me asking for them to call me. I like talking to a live body sometimes to ask any little questions I may have instead of writing a novel. I can't complain though because both time the steps listed were spot on and fixed whatever issue I had. -
That's what I have been using to dip any new additions SPS, Z/P's and even a couple acans I have. I haven't lost anything due to the dip so far. I'm assuming somewhere some eggs made it through the dip. Should I just continue a periodic Bayer dip instead of going out to buy Coral RX?
-
Alright fair enough nudis first. Then aptasia. I'll make sure to take a good look at them tonight to make sure the spots are sand, egg masses or what not. As for the Coral RX just follow the dosage on the bottle?

So despite diligently dipping every coral (Bayer) I have put into my frag tank I feel like I'm finding new issues daily. On Friday I got a new maxima clam and it is the only tank inhabitant that hasn't been dipped for obvious reasons. I did give it a good scrub with a toothbrush before going in my tank incase there were any pyramid snails. Made sure it burped and ta-da happy as a clam. Later that night I'm looking at it through a viewing box and bam. I spotted an aptasia. Boiled some RO water and injected it with a needle. Tonight I found one more. Ok. I can see thats how its going to be. When I got the clam in I did a bunch of rearranging in the frag tank to give it its own little corner and light. On Saturday I noticed some zoas not opening here and there. Figured they were stressed. Tonight when the lights went out I decided to take a good look. What the. I spotted a nudi on one zoa frag and then as I'm looking around I spotted white spots on several frags which I am assuming is Zoa pox judging by what the google machine shows me. I should and will take one more good look to confirm pox or nudibranch eggs but I'm pretty sure its pox. So now I'm fighting 3 things (once confirmed). Aptasia, Zoa Pox and Zoa eating Nudibranchs. My question is what should I tackle first? I figured Furan 2 for the pox as a priority while picking away at any nudis I see. I can only confirm one since thats all I saw. Aptasia isn't out of hand since I have only seen 2. If I can't keep up with it I would order some Berghia. Whats the best course for zoa eating nudis? What do you think should be my priority or course of action? Blah! Its a bummer things have been going relatively smooth and growing well.

New From Colorado
WilRams replied to sethsolomon's topic in Welcome to WAMAS: FAQ / FYI / Hobby News
Welcome Im digging your list. Def some wants on there! -
Perfect. That makes more sense. Thanks
-
I don't much. I tend to be that way about most my hobbies everything though. My co workers don't care. My friends go through the whole Nemo conversation when they come over and thats about it. So we stick to sports haha
-
But if you buy friday and leave the show sunday? Im not worried about this go round but just wondering what people do for further shows. Iv def flown with fish bags in luggage before so I'm not above that haha
-
Thanks for the heads up!

I have an order coming from the Tues but its just for some Z/P's and an Acan. I def want to buy some of those sticks though. While on the MACNA topic what does everyone do with the coral they purchase at the show? Obviously being this close going home would be possible but what about shows out of state? I know when I was into freshwater and went to conventions I would just setup a small tank in my hotel room for anything I bought. Last day i would bag it up and head out. Do people do something similar for coral?

I didn't log in on purpose. I learned my lesson during WWC's last live sale. Money goes quick!
-
That is def something I could assist with since its up my way. Ill try to fill out the survey later tonight.

Looking good. With your new furniture lay out I can see where a peninsula tank would be sweet. Id love to do a peninsula drop down tank (day dreaming) upstairs one day. Im on a little bit of a zoa kick right now but terrible with ids. Ill have to ask you what a couple of those are so I can put them on my want list.

3 months full bore in my frag tank. Looking forward to the apex compatibility. New blades and foam guards are on the way it looks like. http://reefbuilders.com/2015/06/01/maxspect-gyre-rotor-foam-guards/

Thanks everyone! Im excited to get the fixture hung. No bulbs yet. I move at a snails pace. Plus I was not expecting the fixture to make its trek from Germany in a weeks time! Need to do some more research on what ballasts to run (or where to find the one I see being recommended). I know I am most likely going with 20k Radiums for bulbs but I would like to see a system running them in person before committing. For the T5's ill play around with them until I get the combination I like. While I'm at it anyone have any input?

I already had a "small leak" too. Shop vac'd the carpet but it still has a slight musty smell to it. Figured ill just shampoo the whole thing when my project is done. Hope your done flooding the basement!

The Radions sold and I used the funds for my new light. It was suppose to take 3 weeks to get here but today I came home to a surprise! Now to go bulb shopping. Heres the tank as is sits minus the radios or mounts.
-
I also bought the $20 deal. For the price I can't complain too much either. I had one bag with tiny hermits that had a few dead otherwise all is well. I wouldn't go out of my way to order from them though. I would like to buy Copepods but have read they mostly send amphipods. Would AlgaeBarn be a good source for Copepods?
-
Good luck! Hopefully some of it pulls through. I put both my emeralds in the sump last night after reading this thread.
-
He really went to town on it. Id frag a piece if possible.
-
Yikes I have 2 in my frag tank! So far everything looks fine. It might be off to the sump until needed to be safe.
-
Nice light. Don't see those often. This guy made the mounts for my Radions. He also makes a Mitras mount. Very clean sleek setup. http://www.reeflightmounts.com/mitras-mount.htm
