Funny. Setting up a new tank I mixed the saltwater in the tank itself. Everything on high flow with the heater on. After awhile I came back and the filter socks had brown crud all in them in a brand new tank. I shrugged and walked away. Now it makes sense.

I have two apex systems. The other night one of the systems was locked up. I noticed the lights had not turned off before going to bed. I figured I would reset it through the display but it was locked up. Not responding to anything. I eventually got fed up and unplugged it. It powered back up but lost all my outlets. It was like starting all over. I unplugged it and put everything on a dj bar. I haven't even felt like looking into it because I'm so annoyed. I love it most of the time...

Good choice on the harness. They are the best! Nice. I also took out the GoPro and went for a drive Sunday. I finally got out of town and made it to Atlanta. Went to the Georgia Aquarium last night. That whale shark tank...wow.

IM Lagoon 50 AIO. Yup her crate is underneath. The pump is a little louder then I would like but not a deal breaker. She doesn't seem to mind.

I have had better luck here with snow storms then with the ice storms back home in Dallas. I remember loosing power for almost a week when I was little. I had a flight out to Atlanta Saturday morning. That's not happening so I'm hoping for Sunday morning. I could leave earlier but feel like I should be here incase anything hits the fan... As long as I'm in Atlanta monday night to see Tool I'm ok!

First time I have built my own stand but it came out pretty good and feels like I could park a truck on it. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1169964 As for the tank I have been messing with the scape for a few days now and sleeping on it. I think I settled today so we'll see. I added a small layer of white craft foam between the black mat that came with the tank. It now looks like I painted the bottom white but if I change my mind I can easily go back to black. Also added a Reefbrite to my ATI. I'll fill it tomorrow and start the cycle!

I have had a similar issue before with a Radion and then with an ATI fixture. Both times getting a higher quality (I went with LeGrand) outlet fixed the issue. I suspect just getting a new outlet would have fixed the issue as well as I read somewhere that they do recommend changing them out after sometime.

I have the Vertex calcium reactor but it will be a couple months before I set it up so I can't offer any input on how it performs. It is def a high quality piece like you would expect from Vertex so it at least looks the part! For the price point though I would look into Geo Reefs as everyone recommended me to. The only reason I bought the Vertex was because of the Black Friday sales.

I did the same. I had some left over netting from BRS and a zip tie. Ta-Da! Snail Defender.

Wow if theres ever a spoke too soon moment this is it. A couple hours after posting that I heard my skimmer making noise. Took it a part and sure enough a clownfish got sucked in the pump. Looks like I will be making a cover for the intake after all.... If its any consolation this clown and I did not get a long. He was a regular perc but with the attitude of a maroon. He would not stop harassing and biting me to the point of frustration. Not sure if for him or I but karma.

I have a Rubbermaid tub with all my fish and corals in it right now. Skimmer is sitting on a 5 gallon fish tank on its side and a cutting board on top. Hey it's what I had on hand. No problems with fish but twice a snail got into the intake. Moved it and all is well.
