  1. Thanks for the input everyone Marcos your awesome. Much appreciated. I'll text you soon.
  2. I was just snooping through to get a feel for your bulb setup. Great to see an update. I love the sump. Is this an all new build?
  3. Im sure this topic has been debated quite a bit and understand it relies heavily on personal opinion. I did a quick search but didn't find anything solid. If I missed it then I'm sorry. I have a 36x18x12 frag tank. It is currently lit by a Kessil A360we. The few pieces I have are doing great but I can already see the shadowing effect from LED's everyone speaks of on my SPS. Point is I am switching over to a 6 bulb ATI dimmable sunpower. If it was a 4 bulb setup I would be set on a combination of two Blue Plus and two Coral Plus. I have seen a couple tanks on forums with this and I like the look and results. Im not really into the real heavy blue look. If needed I could always supplement with a reefbrite later on for a more actinic look. Is there any other bulb that anyone would recommend I add since I have 2 slots open to play with? Purple Plus? Otherwise I could just go 3 and 3.
  4. Try Charm City Corals he delivers to VA right?
  5. Thanks for checking out my little corner. Nothing new to report. Truth be told unless I can sell the Radions I won't be switching lights. If they sell Ill most likely go with a Giesemann MH/T5 fixture. However I am getting an ATI later this week for my frag tank. That will free up a Kessil that I could experiment with in addition to the Radions. So we'll see what happens! For now all my efforts are on my frag tank so that I can start growing out some stuff while the display takes it sweet time cycling and settling in. On the flip side it gives me too much time to think...
  6. Ordered one last night. Hard to pass up that deal.
  7. Aaaaand I'm changing something up already. When I first started this build I thought I wanted a mix reef and that the Radions would do fine. In the last 6 months I have decided that what I'm really interested in and want the most is to do an SPS dominant build. While there is success out there with LED's and other lighting options the tried and true method always seems to be MH. I had my concerns about MH at first. Heat and energy. With my tank being in my cool basement I don't feel like heat should be a concern. Energy well yeah guess ill just work a couple more hours a week haha. That said the Radions are out and the hunt begins.
  8. Looks great! Im having him make me a few little odds and ends.
  9. Looks great! Props
  10. Thanks everyone! Didn't think it would take this long but it's coming along.
  11. I could not decide between the Smart ATO or Tunze. I ended up buying both. The Smart ATO for my frag tank and the Tunze for my display. I really like the Smart ATO. Its ridiculously easy to use. Does not get much more plug and play then that. Had I not already purchased the Tunze I would have probably bought another Smart ATO. I can't comment on the Tunze since the tank isn't up yet...
  12. Great read
  13. The one at HoT I believe is the Algaegen Live Feeds.
  14. Def seen it at HoT. Missed it at CTE but I'll have to look since I'm always around there.
  15. Not really a WTB thread so I posted it here. Unless someone has... Just wanted to know a good source for macroalgae. Im looking for Dragons Breath, Red Gracilaria, and Blue Hypnea but I'm having trouble finding any local. I saw Dragons Breath and Red Gracilaria on eBay. Blue Hypnea on Premium Aquatics. Hate to pay shipping here and there though. Trying to stay away from chaeto.
  16. My rimless tank came with a thin foam. I don't know the technical name for it but it looks like a really thin yoga mat. Maybe 1/4 in if that. So since that's what it came with that's what I used. The sump that is also rimless came with about an inch of regular styrofoam glued to it.
  17. I recently set up a second one and with Fusion now its a breeze. I also watched all the Apex videos on BRS which was very very helpful.
  18. Nice skimmer! It was one of the ones I was inbetween when I recently bought bought a skimmer. Looks good
  19. I really want a couple of the alternative reef peices. Hardest think is finding what I want. Everytime I contact him he says most of his stuff is going overseas. I'll def have to hit up his booth first at MACNA!
  20. Plugging things in tonight I realized I haven't thought about surge protection. I searched online and found a lot of threads going straight to ups.. Can I simply plug it into a surge protector and be done with it? Or should I go with a ups? Im not really interested in the backup feature more so the protection.
  21. Every time I move I say never again let alone with a tank now. So many unthought of stresses. However since you are moving so close I would just move everything over to the new house. Once you are settled in you can think about an upgrade. I would also be willing to help you out. With a few people you won't have to worry about it taking more then a day.
  22. Tiny update. Skimma! I now have everything I need to finish this build. I just need to get off my lazy butt and get this thing going!
  23. I understand why the wire is so thin but every time I handle it I feel like I'm going to cut or damage it. Nice soldering iron! RC stuff being useful for other things. Ill have to bring over a cheap multi meter I have with a soldered in fuse...which is blown.
