  1. I think he meant there is no cure because it can always be re introduced with new parasites from newly added infected fish.
  2. Your tank has pods. Mine has a lot but it's extremely rare when I see them. They hide. I know I have a lot because I sometimes dip corals for people that buy them and I see several dead pods in the bottom. The pods love to reproduce and live in my chaeto it looks like a bees nest maybe you can spot the pod in this pic. Supplement the fish with live brine and some can be trained to eat black worms. 3. I got rid of hair algae simply by running GFO. No plucking no less feeding nothing. It's not an overnight thing it took me a couple months to starve it out. I quit GFO and it came back quick. Started it back up and it went away. It's easier to get it early or just plain prevent. Nice flippin rock work love the nooks n crannies.
  4. I got an extra auto feeder in case something happens to the other while I'm gone.
  5. Surely no one on wamas has an overstocked tank that's just nonsense. my fuge is a little bigger than 15% people also laugh at my 6LED lights that make the chaeto have to get a basketball trimmed out once a week. The LEDs are strong 3watts per bulb and I believe that penetration is important. My chaeto doesn't have much flow. I had a nitrate and phosphate problem. The fuge helped a lot with the 80ppm nitrates now undetectable. Along with larger skimmer and no one else believes me but I think extra lighting helped Lower the nitrates a little. Only 3/4 my tank was lit. Phospates for me has to be controlled with GFO for now. I tried discontinuing but some GHA started to come back. I'm going to continue running GFO until rocks are done leaching. I like your plan. I think it will work you won't see the numbers right away but they will continually lower. I think fish crap is just a situation that causes most of our crappy problems in this hobby.
  6. I don't think floor failure is the problem. I think it's more the long term affects like floor sag or cracking or shifting of joists or drywall.
  7. that's a lot of weight in one room! Glad to hear it though makes me feel better. My 125 is along a steel I beam load Bering wall and I still worry about it when I have people over. I'm moving the sump to basement which should help with my nerves. The 125 is a 6foot tank which gets it over more joists.
  8. Don't let em get you Down lots of wamas users have had em. Research and treat and keep an eye out. Cool tank
  9. I don't think they help much unless you have 100s but anything that helps right!? They open up when they die so you can easily tell To remove before decay.
  10. I like that blue green color I wouldn't change the phosphates
  11. Hi have them also. Mine don't bother anything. There are few species that eat corals. Great part of the cleanup crew. Mine don't get much bigger than the one pictured
  12. What are the names of the corals? Live the different colors
  13. Good point Ducati. I also beefed up my skimmer same time I added the 29g refugium. I never thought I would see 0 nitrates. Good strong lighting over refugium is key. A lot of people say theirs is not growing because of low nutrient. There are a ton of cheap refugium lights on the market that have no penetration on a giant chaeto ball. The refugium also allowed me to add more live rock and maybe later DSB. How the heck does it grow so fast with low nutrient? I have to throw away a basketball sized piece each week.
  14. Go for it! Too much tank for me to enjoy :( is this the free tank joshifer passed up with his moving uncle??!!
  15. I had a nitrate problem. Added a large refugium with strong 3watt LEDs make the chaeto grow and have to trim often. It took some time but worked great in the long run.
  16. I have a 125 on the 1st floor above basement. Because its so much more weight than yours, I had to place it along a load bering wall (the middle wall with the steel I beam) I also placed it perpendicular to the joists so the 6' tank would go over as many joists as possible. Im lucky enough to have a drop celing in the basement so I could tell which way they are going. Can you look at your unfinished HVAC system celing to find out? Can you see your steel I beam or is there a crawl space you can peak into? I personally think you could stick this 65 where ever you want since Its not as much weight as my tank but if there is a big sump its a great idea (long term) to move it. I know floors are rated for a lot of temporary weight but Has anyone ever seen sagging floors from a tank that sat for years and years? I dont do jumping jacks in the house so I tried after seeing this post. Mine bounces also and I also need to consider the stabilization other users suggested.
  17. How old is the tank? how long has light been on this tank? Is it possible it didnt cycle enough? Is there a wooden log in the tank? I would think a log would add nutrients to a tank as it decomposes. My guess would be the light is new, caused tons of available nutrients to feed an algae bloom. Everyone gave good nutrient reduction advice to help fix problem.
  18. Burping is a bunch of hogwash anyhow :-D yay happy ending I didn't know they can move their foot like that. How far did it go?
  19. Your welcome! Lol I'm jk I don't represent wamas or even come close!
  20. My tank has arguably too much rock. They have room to swim in the back but don't use it when I'm in the room. Why not? They don't wAnt to miss seeing me put the food in the tank. I do hAve a goby that never comes out unless there is food in the tank. That's just his personality.
  21. Did you use your gift certificate? Good price
  22. Thanks for the post. I only have one mp40 100% power in my 125. I didn't think it was near enough but now I'm second guessing. I have decent polyp extension on my acros. I have learned they suck up or deflate with me when my Mg gets low or when Alkalinity is worn out. There is no flow meter test kit so it is confusing for me also.
  23. It didn't open for me. I don't own the lights so can't give much opinion. They come with mount kits so it hangs above the tank from wires. Also the LEDs come with optics to spread out the light so it's not a solid laser beam. Just keep that in mind and the dimensions of it. Typically from what I have seen is one d120 per 2ft of tank. Maybe start with one or two and if not enough to cover the tank buy more?
