  1. Did a water change that night... only took 45 minutes so I ended up watching some baseball.
  2. What will I do with no WAMAS for up to 5 hours???
  3. If you add vinegar (white) to your ato/di reservoir, you'll have to try and keep it as clean as possible. Vinegar can fuel microbial growth and the ato box will have to be clean out rather often. Vinegar will help dissolve kalk in equal parts so it won't help much to lower your alkalinity. It will help lower the pH slightly though.
  4. Tagging along b/c I am also curious about the affects of daily fluctuations with the various parameters we monitor. Any good articles or personal studies?
  5. I tried spot feeding my acro's and monti's with reef frenzy in the past. They secreted a lot of slime shortly after the feeding which lead me to believe it was pissing them off so I stopped. Watching these vids in high def makes me want to try again. lol
  6. Is this a one time use code???
  7. I spot feed about once a week. I mix reef frenzy with a little Mysis and feed my LPS and some softies a few hours before I do a water change.
  8. I wish I knew about Pacific East when I used to attend Salisbury University I would have interned for a summer too!
  9. But.... are they offer self serve??
  10. What if you see an oily film on top of the water after using pipe dope to seal? you think that water is still safe to use?
  11. Welcome to WAMAS. Where on the Eastern shore are you located?
  12. Haha Mike. Amazon does whatever they Want (thug life).
  13. I really wish I knew of this place when I went to Salisbury.
  14. I too am in Bowie. What size are you looking for? You can access the sales section if you pay for a full membership. You'll find great deals
  15. I think Dr. foster and smith has reef crystals currently for $49 a box. If you need some ASAP I can loan you a bag or 2.
  16. That's a nice looking filefish. Where did you get it?
  17. Matt, Are you going to keep your 180?
  18. Dear Matt, Quantum Reefs 300g DD display tank... enough said lol
  19. What kind of unit do you have? I read online that colder temps can cause a slow flow rate through your membranes. When the units at work clog up, we run a flush to remove trapped air and clean out the system.
  20. I agree that side by side comparison is the best way to test if tumbling makes a difference. I am just noting that when I had very little/ restricted flow, there was no difference in my skimmate for 2-3 months. When I increased the flow and the pellets began to tumble, within days, there was a noticeable difference in what my skimmer was taking out. Once again, it might be "anecdotal" evidence, but it's enough evidence for me to believe a little tumbling helps vs. no tumble at all.
  21. I've been running bp's on my tank for about 8 months now with a Phosban 550 retrofitted. I had issues trying to get the pellets to tumble for the first 2-3 months. To get it to tumble better, I streamlined the tubes and minimized the restricted flow by adding a stronger pump. I have noticed my skimmer taking out some nasty gunk as well as an improvement in water clarity once it have better tumbling.
