  1. ThatPetPlace.com is selling the Apex Lite with pH probe for $420. Is that basically the same thing as the Apex Full since the pH probe is included?
  2. I would consider my tank moderately stocked with corals and fish and skimmer is working great. The noise of the skimmer is muted by a bio pellet reactor. Otherwise, the air intake section makes a little noise but I took care of that by plugging one of the intakes. And yes, it came with a psk-600 pin wheel. I will PM you some pics of the tank n skimmer setup when i get home.
  3. If it helps, here is what I am curently using on my 120g (mixed reef). I perform water changes every 2 weeks and change up filter socks every 5 days. -skimmer- Reef Octopus Diablo 160 XS (If your stand is similar to mine, you'll have just enough space to fit this skimmer.) -sump- 40gal DIY 3 chambers -overflow (perhaps a cpr internal retrofit - see brs)- PF-800 -return pump (low-ish flow)- Mag 9.5 -lights (led most likely) TT-AL15 (x2) -display flow (mp10 on hand, but that's not enough) koralia 1150(x2)/WP25(x2) -ca/alk/mg dosing (two extra brs dosers on hand) Kalk stirer -ato (used ato.com single switch on hand...but prefer the double switch version on my 46)
  4. You might want to get a couple more females. It'll help spread the aggression and they'll set a pecking order. If they are relatively new around each other, he could be asserting his dominance.
  5. I would lower the filter socks into th tank. If they clog up too much you run the risk of water overflowing the sump at that height.
  6. I went from instant ocean to reef crystals without any issues.I think the main difference is additional calcium and trace elements. it'll be more beneficial for the corals and should have no effect on your fish.
  7. welcome from Bowie. Hope you enjoy your experience.
  8. I stopped by Michaels this afternoon and found a bag of natural seashells for $3.49. If you sort through it, u'll find a bunch of shells for your hermit crabs. Worth checking out if you live near a Michaels.
  9. I placed damp news paper between the heat pad and the bag before. Help to seperate the two. Just seeing other options.
  10. Hello Wamas, I was thinking about placing a hand warmer in my foam cooler to keep the box warm on the long ride back. How do you transport corals during the winter time?
  11. my little guy does the same thing. I think its my favorite fish in my tank.
  12. WOW. They could make sooo much more money selling it LIVE to people like us.
  13. I can only hope that one day, my tank will look just as nice.
  14. Jawfish have a lot of character. Good luck n hope it works!
  15. I was thinking the same thing..... but just to see who the "ultimate" pest would be.
  16. Poked it and it retracted and its now out of my tank. Thanks for the clarification.
