  5. Hello All Can someone ID this acro for me please? I believe it came from Flooddc a few years back. Thanks

  7. Hello All, I picked up an Avast ATO a few months ago from another member. The magnet holder is begining to rust and bulge. Can you tell me the best way to get a replacement holder? Thanks!
  8. The first time I saw this concept was when I took the behind the scene tour at the Georgia Aquarium. They had a 55 or 75 gallon display full of dendro's. My question is do you notice elevated NO3 and PO4 levels with the frequency of spot feeding?
  9. If pests or chemicals were the reason why the corals died, I would be cautious re-using the plugs. Although I have frag plugs in my system, I prefer to cut the corals off the plug and attach straight to my aquascape.
  10. Glad you were able to save the anemones. I had a somewhat similar situation with a BTA. Long story short, the nem went surfing decided to ride the waves into a MP40. I thought it was toast. Rather than tossing it, I placed it my sump to heal. Now it's back in the display and about the size of a small dinner plate.
  11. How much room do you have to spare under the stand? get Just keep in mind that bigger isn't always better. If you are keeping a skimmer, heater, and return pump among other items, you want to make sure there is enough room to remove them as well. I went with a 55g DIY sump for a 180g tank and I barely have enough room on top to remove everything if necessary. In hindsight, 40g would have sufficed with a little more wiggle room.
  12. Would Prime work as declorinator and ammonia reducer?
  13. I just moved my reef tank from Bowie to Crofton last weekend. During the process, I made RO water from both locatins to help with the move. Out of curiosity, I evaluated the TDS in and out from both locations. Bowie - 138 ppm, 0 ppm out. Crofton - 40 ppm in, 0 ppm out. Would it be safe to say my reject water in Crofton is still better than straight from the tap water in Bowie?
  14. Although it's not in a doctors office or medical center, the tank which made me sad is the one in Annapolis Mall. It houses african cichlids now.
  15. I have a few buddies with the same coral. It has amazing colors!
  16. I am roughly 15" off the water surface. This is as low as I can get currently since my basement has tall ceilings. When I move the tank in a couple weeks, I want to see how it does around 12" off the surface.
  17. 8 bulb ATI fixture over my tank. 2 bulbs (purple plus and actinic) on between 11:30-8:30, 6 bulbs (4 blue plus and 2 coral plus) on between 12:00-8:00.
  18. Sounds like either faulty GFI or stray voltage from faulty rquipment. Same thing happened to me last year. I thought it was the heater but it was actually my return pump causing the issue. Check all equipment making contact with water. Purchase a grounding probe or two as well.
  19. I have a couple pistol shrimps and a couple conches. They do a pretty good job. The symbiosis relationship between pistol shrimp and goby is pretty cool.
  20. I wonder if my pincushion urchin falls in the category of some speices.
  21. I have a pincushion urchin in my display which is filled with astrea stars. I want to put a harlequin shrimp in but read that they might feast of urchins as well. Anyone with experience or suggestions with the two in the same system?
