Sounds like either faulty GFI or stray voltage from faulty rquipment. Same thing happened to me last year. I thought it was the heater but it was actually my return pump causing the issue. Check all equipment making contact with water. Purchase a grounding probe or two as well.
I have a couple pistol shrimps and a couple conches. They do a pretty good job. The symbiosis relationship between pistol shrimp and goby is pretty cool.
I have a pincushion urchin in my display which is filled with astrea stars. I want to put a harlequin shrimp in but read that they might feast of urchins as well. Anyone with experience or suggestions with the two in the same system?

Your discus feces white? Usually when they are thin and dark, its caused by a parasite which lives in their digestive track. Look up hexamita, which is what I suspected based on your discription.
I had a chance to talk to them about their prices during the summer meeting. El Nino has something to do with it. I believe a few bad storms as well for their clam prices.
I came across this thread where micro bubbles are infused into reef tanks as part of daily maintenance. I am curious to get your opinions about it... also considering possible affects to fish.

I love my gyre but I hate the maintenance process. If you watch some of the coralvue video's, they recommend soaking in vinegar and brushing around once a month. I just started using a MP-40 and I am happy so far.
The guys at my local hardware store looked at me and said "We don't sell eggs here. This is Homedepot." I asked them to direct me to the large industrial light isle and there they were. lol I know that feeling
Are there any quality probiotic products in the market for fish? Vitamin enhanced items like Selcon can help "boost" immune systems but are there any yogurts for fish to increase intestinal bacteria?
