  1. Looks like hawaiian strombus snails - reef safe
  2. I ended up winning the RODI unit at the spring meeting raffle which was donated by you. I am in a process in upgrading to a much bigger tank than what I currently have so this new unit is going to be used a lot. Thank you for being a sponsor at WAMAS and for your donation of RODI unit.
  3. great news for people like me who have no place to set up QT system. This news comes at a time when I am just planning on a upgrade.
  4. Jesse - I am closely following updates of your Goldflake Angels. They absolutely stunning.
  5. Yes, you are moderately stocked but here on you probably have to careful on what you add especially if you want to add a Tang. Do you have a preference i.e. Tangs or wrasses? I am more of a Wrasse guy but I love Powder Blue Tang....and then one fish which will for sure be in my future tank is Midas Blenny - so much charachter
  6. great pictures. I didn't know you had all those fish in your tank.
  7. Tagging along. My planned system is not as big as yours but the criteria for the system is same.
  8. We have similar truss joints in our 4 level townhouse. We hired a structural engineer as I am planning on upgrading my current tank to a approx. 250g tank. The tank is going to sit perpendicular to the joists on 2nd level parallel to load bearing wall. and the estimate for our tank was going to be approx. 3000 lbs and the structural engineer gave an OK. I was surprised as we have slight vibration with current tank. We are now thinking of going for a smaller tank like 180-200. So with your future tank the only concern I would have is that you are going parallel to the joist. I will follow this post to see what you find out.
  9. a healthy competition among different manufacturers dealing in similar product is always good for end user so I am not sure how I feel about this merger.
  10. I have the same problem with my pistol shrimp but it doesn't bother me because after couple days the previous mound will be gone and new one is built. I just think that due to my pistol shrimp my sand bed remains pretty clean. Now as far as stealing and killing my coral goes he has destroyed at least $100 worth of corals, not his fault since he is just trying decorate his home .
  11. This is my 3rd year as a wamas member and I wouldn't have a healthy reef tank if it wasn't for all the members and this forum. Last year was interesting as I won the 150g tank in a raffle (thanks to reefescape) but ended up donating back to WAMAS (Isaac ended up receiving the tank in the end). Two new LFS - QR and IC sure made for some exciting weekends of coral shopping. Looking forward in 2014 to upgrade to a bigger tank and once again taking advantage of the knowledge of fellow wamas members.
  12. Isaac, Liked the 'walk down the memory lane'. The tank looks great with great selection of corals. I can't wait for the tank to mature in 2014
  13. Isaac - had to put that project on hold but hopefully it will be something I will be working on early next year.
  14. My sexy shrimp eat all kind of birdsnest coral. They don't touch anything else but I lost 3 colonies to them. I have 5 in my tank and haven't been able to get them out. Good luck on pulling them out Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. I have been thinking of starting this thread for more than a year now but never got time. Finally now that I am planning to upgrade again I thought it would be nice to put the tank progression pics on this forum. As some of you know I started with a 6gallon Fluval Edge nano tank about 3 years ago and then I ran out of room to place corals so I upgraded to my current ELOS midi tank. Now I am running out of room in this tank so this time I am planning on going big...big like 180g . That tank is still in planning phase. Here are the details of my current tank and some pics below Tank: ELOS MIDI Sump: ELOS SUMP 400 Return Pump: Sicce 2.0 Water Movement: 2 x MP10ESW Skimmer: PS200 Light: Vertex Illumina 260 LED ATO: ELOS Osmocontroller Filtration: Filter sock + NextReef MR1 Shorty reactor for GFO and Carbon The tank is placed such that all 4 sides are visible. The front of the tank has corals which require more light and the back of the tank has my LPS corals. Did My rock structure with BRS rock and E-Marco My favorite inhabitants - Yasha goby and Tiger Pistol shrimp. The pistol shrimp is responsible for taking numerous frags and one maxima clam in his tunnel never to be seen again. My latest prized possession 'ORA Red Goniopora' - got it from Quantum Reefs. This has already grown in size since i got it couple of months ago This pink bridsnest came from Evan (DerABT) and when I got it from him more than 2 years ago it was less than 1/2 inch big. My penderson shrimp decided to live in my plate coral from the day I bought it. He is really beautiful and this photo doesn't do justice to him Side tank shot of the front of the tank got this as a single head and now it has more than 20 heads Back side of my tank - LPS side with xenia growing on overflow, blue ochtodes algae and blue green sympodium growing side by side ORA Purple Stylo The guys who is always hungry and stealing food from my LPS and fish Token top down shot For more pics you can visit this link Cheers Dip
  16. i wish i had my new tank set up....thats really nice hammer collection
  17. looks much better in your house than in my garage . Good luck with the new build. Hopefully I will get my tank started soon too.
  18. I have ORA Yellow Lantana Monti which has a nice yellow color with blue polyps. It has an interesting growth pattern too. I will try to take some pics.
  19. +1. I tried the injection but aiptasia would come back after few days so I got a peppermint shrimp and the aiptasia has not returned.
  20. True. I ask that question too but I cannot always provide the same environment as where the mother colony was e.g. lighting Led vs Halide,
  21. for me some aquacultured SPS frags start growing instantly after i put them in the tank but for some it takes couple of time. This might sound crazy but I have identified some WAMAS members whose frags start growing instantly where as there are other members from whom i have bought frags and it has taken a long time to show growth. I concluded that my tanks water chemistry might be closer some members tank thus the difference. And the above theory doesn't stand true for the montipora frags, all of my montipora frags start encrusting and growing immediately.

    16G nano

i didn't realize the person who bought my ELOS stand was on WAMAS . Beautiful tank and good luck.
