  1. I finally got some time and took some pictures of my tank this weekend to start this thread. For those who don’t know me, I started my first reef tank in Dec 2010 which was a 6 gallon pico and then upgraded in 2012 to 36 gallon tank. Upgrading to a bigger tank wasn’t an easy decision as my partner and I had an agreement that we wouldn’t get a bigger tank until we moved to another house. One of the reasons for not getting a bigger tank was also because we didn’t think we could have a bigger tank on the second level of our current house. Anyways, long story short we started the upgrade planning process in late 2013 but somehow we didn’t get anywhere especially since we didn’t have time and we are not handy at all so we wanted someone to come in a build our tank. Then by chance we ended meeting Mark Callahan in Jan 2014 when he was in DC area and he agreed to take on the project. And after 6 months we had our dream tank. Tank Dimensions: 72 x 22 x 30 Glass Aquarium - It was custom built due to the dimensions and where we wanted the internal overflow. 36” tall Steel Stand Acrylic Sump & Refugium: 60 x 18 x 20 Lighting: 3 x Ecotech Radions + 2 x Giesemann Razor T5 Light Bars i.e. 4 Bulbs Water Movement: darkroom Flow Diverter, Vortech MP60 and MP40 Return Pump: Water Blaster 7000 Here is one time lapse video which I did during the build phase https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fEYQFMVz5U The first picture I took after the lights were mounted temporarily before tank finished cycling Here is the episode Mark did recently on my tank build https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWrhvOaYlfo I knew I wanted a bigger tank like the one I have today when I first saw Evan (Der ABT) and Travis’s (trockafella) tank back in 2010 when I went to grab one of my first coral frags from them and I still have some of those corals in my tank today. Its great to look back and realize so many members of this amazing group (members and LFS) have helped in one way or another.
  2. I have been thinking of starting this thread for more than a year now but never got time. Finally now that I am planning to upgrade again I thought it would be nice to put the tank progression pics on this forum. As some of you know I started with a 6gallon Fluval Edge nano tank about 3 years ago and then I ran out of room to place corals so I upgraded to my current ELOS midi tank. Now I am running out of room in this tank so this time I am planning on going big...big like 180g . That tank is still in planning phase. Here are the details of my current tank and some pics below Tank: ELOS MIDI Sump: ELOS SUMP 400 Return Pump: Sicce 2.0 Water Movement: 2 x MP10ESW Skimmer: PS200 Light: Vertex Illumina 260 LED ATO: ELOS Osmocontroller Filtration: Filter sock + NextReef MR1 Shorty reactor for GFO and Carbon The tank is placed such that all 4 sides are visible. The front of the tank has corals which require more light and the back of the tank has my LPS corals. Did My rock structure with BRS rock and E-Marco My favorite inhabitants - Yasha goby and Tiger Pistol shrimp. The pistol shrimp is responsible for taking numerous frags and one maxima clam in his tunnel never to be seen again. My latest prized possession 'ORA Red Goniopora' - got it from Quantum Reefs. This has already grown in size since i got it couple of months ago This pink bridsnest came from Evan (DerABT) and when I got it from him more than 2 years ago it was less than 1/2 inch big. My penderson shrimp decided to live in my plate coral from the day I bought it. He is really beautiful and this photo doesn't do justice to him Side tank shot of the front of the tank got this as a single head and now it has more than 20 heads Back side of my tank - LPS side with xenia growing on overflow, blue ochtodes algae and blue green sympodium growing side by side ORA Purple Stylo The guys who is always hungry and stealing food from my LPS and fish Token top down shot For more pics you can visit this link Cheers Dip
