  1. Thank you! Some of the very first corals in this tank came from you...the strawberry shortcake and granulosa. You might see them in the picture. Thanks Tony! Any new additions since December? Yes, that is Joe the Coral. For some reason it hasn't grown much in this tank. I have had that for couple of years now. The one on the right...I don't know what it is. I thought it was some kind of tricolor I only have its on twice a day for an hour or so. Use it mainly in conjunction with my Vortech's nutrient export mode.
  2. The only equipment change is adding a maxspect gyre. I bought everything right in the beginning so lot of upfront cost but now its just maintenance.
  3. Thanks! I love gonioporas. If I had space and money then I would have just one tank for Gonioporas and Acanthophyllias. Before I used to not feed anything to my gonioporas but recently based on advise of Justin Credebel I started feeding my goniporas mixture of TLF Goniopower, reef-roids and TLF phyto. My oldest goni is about 3 years old.
  4. Sorry, I didn't see your post until today. I will try to take a picture of my water setup in garage over the weekend and post it here.
  5. Looks like I only update this thread once every six month so here is a half yearly picture update. Everything is doing good. I added 5 new fish since my last update which I got from ORA at MACNA. All the original fish and the new fish are doing great. My bangaii cardinals, clowns and dottybacks seem to be always laying eggs. For some reason my female Hawaiian flame wrasse turned male too so now I have two beautiful male hawaiian flame wrasses. Corals are growing and I only realized how much they have grown when I saw the FTS from a year ago and compared it with one I took 2 weeks ago. Some corals growing are faster than others but I can't complain. I have finally run out of space to put any new pieces which I didn't think would happen so fast. Especially since I did a huge upgrade by going from 36g to 200g. Here is the FTS from two weeks ago Side shot My 4yr old clowns Here are some macro shots Some of my acanthophyllias
  6. very sorry to hear about what is going in your tanks. I can only imagine how stressful it might be for you. Everyone has already given you good advice over here. I hope you are able to save the remaining fish. good luck.
  7. I agree about leopard wrasses. You have to get it from a good source. I got mine from Marco where they were in QT/acclimating for at least 4 months before I got them. By the time i got them they were already eating anything I would throw at them including dry flakes. I have had them almost a year now without any issue.
  8. You will love the flame wrasse. Really great community fish and absolutely beautiful. Yes, there are other wrasses which are prettier but this is comes with no additional baggage. I have two terminal phase male (started as one male and female) and they get along fine other than occasional chasing. If also like my pair of leopard wrasses....friends who visit me always ask me about my leopard wrasse. Here are pics of my wrasses.
  9. looking good and and really like those branches
  10. Except LRS I rinse all my frozen food i.e. mysis, brine shrimp, krill etc. Why do I do it? No good reason...just because I have always done this ever since I had my first pico tank. It probably was a good idea when I had a 6 gallon pico and not so much with my current 210g. But its a habbit now .
  11. I use Red Sea for my tank and frankly I only use it because thats the salt I started with and my tank is doing great, so why change something when everything is going fine. I would say just pick a salt mix and stay with it. Tank inhabitants including corals like stability and as long as you are keeping up with maintenance, not over feeding, using decent lights and keeping the alk between 8-10 you should see coral growth and coral color improve as tank matures. Based on what I know most of the salts are same with some like Red sea coral pro, D-D H2Ocean plus which have elevated levels of Calc., Alk, and Mg. But if you are dosing 2 part or Kalk or using a calcium reactor then you might just be okay using any salt mix.
  12. It was my first MACNA and I had so much fun, so thank you WAMAS for bringing this event here. I was really impressed with all the planning that was done in advance by the officers which really helped all of us who were volunteering. I got to meet and talk to so many WAMAS members and that made volunteering all the more fun. Thanks to everyone who helped out. I wasn't able to attend all the speaker sessions but I thoroughly enjoyed the ones I attended. There were lot of coral vendors and they all got some great pieces for attendees, needless to say I spent way too much just like everyone else. Looking forward to MACNA San Diego and time to rearrange few things my tank so I can find place for the corals bought at MACNA. -Dip

  14. I was excited about this ban but then I read this article as to how businesses are exploiting the loopholes. I hope lawmakers do something to fix the loopholes.
