  1. You will need to completely clean the old silicone off the glass. 91 percent rubbing alcohol is what is usually recommended to prepare surfaces for silicone bonding.
  2. It actually posts after the errors.
  3. I could not start a new topic. I Got this error:Warning: preg_replace(): Compilation failed: invalid UTF-8 string at offset 10 in/home/wamas/public_html/forums/admin/sources/classes/text/parser.php on line 1171
  4. I prefer the Ecotec products, besides the great design and support, there are less electrical cords in the water.
  5. I would use lanthanum chloride to do this, it will take the phosphate out of the water in a flocculant. Just drain the water containing the flocculant and repeat.
  6. I haven't seen any article about Ringtails, but I think they are really beautiful and I would like to obtain some. I have never seen them for sale anywhere. Thanks for looking!!
  7. Hi, I was wondering if you can get any Ringtailed Cardinal Fish, Apogon aureus. Thanks John WEaver
  8. Dinoflagellates is what I am guessing.
  9. I have the best tool for bubble algae removal, chopsticks!!!! If you have filter socks or other easily removed media in your system, I would use a chopstick. I use them to remove bubble algae without breaking them, it is very easy to do and you can get to bubble algae embedded in rocks, corals etc. The filter media will do the work for you, just remove it when you think it is full. If you keep doing this for a couple of weeks, you will notice a great reduction in the bubble algae. BTW, PF Chang's chopsticks work the best, they are a very hard plastic.
  10. Many apartment buildings have restrictions against large aquariums, so check that facet before moving in!!
  11. I am sure Tom (Origami) has some insights on this item!!!
  12. I saw Charles Veron!!!
  13. Impressive technology, they have been testing for awhile. They said they're accuracy is getting very good. Magnesium is an issue for them now, but they said they will have everything ironed out before release. It is going to be great to see parameters updated every 15 minutes.
  14. It was interesting what they said about PVC, it inhibits coral spawning.
  15. This is something Fairfax Water does every spring. When you take a shower, you will notice a stronger chlorine smell.
  16. I keep RO water in mine in between uses, they are always clean.
  17. GFO is the go to substance for P04 removal.
  18. The only problem with a nozzle is the bacteria slime eventually clogs the holes in the nozzle, and then you have to clean it.
  19. Number 8 is the low voltage outlet, sometimes that connect gets fused. You can use number 4 for the same purpose. If you have higher voltage stuff use an other outlet besides 4 and 8. This is a very common issue.
  20. Try running with no heater, I do not have a heater in my setup and have never used a heater. Pumps and lights keep my temps around 79-80 in the summer and about 78 in the winter. Corals can take temps to about 74 with no ill effects in my opinion.
  21. I slowly built the school over time, most of them I got from petland. I add about 5, each time I increase the size of the school. No special DT, you need good flow, good food, and a relaxing place for them to gather.
  22. Here is a video of the BlueEye School http://youtu.be/6I0CKSwwqcU
  23. I like these, but the closed top makes it more of a pain to use. I have one where there is a lid. It makes it easy to clean after water changes. I always wipe the container after a water change, without a lid it would be impossible to clean.
  24. Omair, I noticed the small tubes coming out of your pvc plumbing. Is that setup for noise reduction? Does it work very well? What are the chances of water coming out of the small tubes? Thanks
  25. My Blue eyes school all the time, they divide into two groups usually. When they get stressed, such as when the sump pump turns on after feeding, they get into a tight ball of one. They do badger each other within the group. I have a 220, so they have plenty of room.
