  1. I have a pack of about 30 blue eyes. They are a challeging fish to keep, despite what the literature says. They need clean water and heavy feedings, they like flow but need a calm place to school. They love PE mysis and need plankton based diets, they don't go for vegetable material at all. They don't like bright lights and need an area where they can get shade.
  2. Carbon is the culprit, especially if you are running it a reactor that tumbles the carbon. I had a purple tang who got HLLE, I removed the carbon from the system and HLLE immediately stop and began to reverse. 1+1=2
  3. I use RC and get the brown deposits, I clean my container after every water change, once a week.
  4. Your regal tang is the most likely culprit.
  5. That sailfin tang is going to get really big, then he will get revenge, don't worry about it.
  6. A newer tank is going to cycle through different algae blooms, that is probably what is happening to you. Do you have new rock in the aquarium?
  7. I can personally vouch for BRS Pukani Rock. I did treat it with HCL and lanthanum chloride, to eliminate organics and phosphates. I have had it running in the system since November. I now have coraline algae on the rock and green pocillopora has spawned and started to grow out all over the place. It is very light and porous, they can send any size you like, even giant boulders!!!
  8. it seems the Bayer pesticide method is the best right now.
  9. They need to be fed heavily and at least two times a day.
  10. I have a school of at least 30 Ghosts, they have done well for two years. They really love to eat mysis and other shrimp based foods.
  11. It is not worth the effort or time, the aquarium is usually the cheapest part of a setup. I would just wait and purchase a new tank or a quality used tank. I got a 220 gallon Oceanic Starphire with Oceanic stand for 900 dollars about 3 years ago off Reef2Reef. Deals are out there, 300 gallons of water on the floor will ruin more than just your day.
  12. The PBT will be in for a rude awakening, once the Sailfin has grown. I had a Sailfin that was harassed relentlessly by other tangs, until one day he turned the tables on everyone. The sea was angry that day...
  13. Ask Dan or Justin at Avast Marine, they should have some in stock.
  14. Drop the alkalinity, check your nitrates and phosphates. If you are close to zero on PO4 and NO3, you maybe into ULN. As Ride stated, ULN makes corals very sensitive to higher than natural alkalinity levels.
  15. If you go up to Ecotech's website, look in the forums, some people have put .etg files for use.
  16. Hanna has two great testers, phosphorus and low range phosphate. Great units easily repeatable test.
  17. Ecotech Marine is great, I have not tried BRS glue. Do they have a thicker glue than Ecotech? The best glue I ever used was an old bottle of Ecotech that dried to a very thick paste consistency. I could almost cut it with a knife, corals stuck to it instantaneously.
  18. Black is best, gives the illusion of a larger tank. Black also makes coral and fish stand out more, and it hides algae better than blue or clear.
  19. Thanks Tom
  20. How do you setup the feed option on the AC3?
  21. I am trying to make this as simple as possible, so when I go on vacation, the person who feeds my fish has a fool proof simple method to shutoff the main pump.
  22. I have an AC3, but really want a push button solution.
  23. I want to be able to plug my reeflo pump into the timer. In order to use the timer pictured above, I would have to wire an outlet to the timer. Is there a unit manufactured that I will not have to wire?
  24. David, not quite like that. I need a unit that will allow me to push a button that will shutoff the pump and then restart it automatically after a set time. I remember your delay setup, it was hooked up to a skimmer, if I recall correctly.
