Just a heads-up for anyone looking for blue zoanthids. I just got back from BRK and they have 3 or 4 colonies left. Out of kindness and generosity I only bought one. Actually, they are $34.99 and I'm too broke to afford more than one.
They were acclimating a shipment of inverts and a few fish. There's a few absolutely stunning lemon meringue wrasses for sale. (halichoeres leucoxanthus)
Lastly, if you need mangroves there are a bunch of them available too.
IMO, people attach names to zoas so they can charge more money for them. I pay no attention to the names, I just buy the ones I think are pretty/interesting.
I agree. That's a condylactis and the clowns will never host it. Your best bet, if you want to keep an anemone is to return the condy and get yourself a bubble tip.
As far as the red algae goes, it's more than likely cyanobacteria. You can get rid of it by syphoning it off the sandbed and using some Phosban or other GFO, reducing your nutrient input and increase your export with the GFO and water changes. Are you susing RO/DI water?
Chalk bass, royal gramma, melanarus or filamented flasher wrasse, pygmy angels, neon goby, yellow or blue assessor, anthias, orchid dottyback tailspot blenny, bicolor blenny.
How's the rbta doing? The blue xenia is growing like a weed!
Glad to hear you are okay. I HATE those visa-therm heaters. I had two of them malfunction on me. One malfunctioned while cycling a tank. No big deal, it just prolonged the cycle. The second one that malfunctioned raised my tank temp up to well over 94 degrees. Needless to say, the nano had many losses. Hopefully you'll be able to get things set to right soon.
