  1. Sorry you lost Mr T. It always sucks to lose a fish. Your build has been quite the adventure so far! Hopefully things will go smoothly tonight.
  2. Using an RODI unit will help keep nuisance algae at bay. What kind of lighting are you planning on using?
  3. I've gotten live rock from The Marine Scene in Herndon and Blue Ribbon Koi and Marine in Manassas.
  4. Wait until you have mastered your small tank. It typically takes about a year for a tank to become fully established. For now you need to run your tank fallow for 12 weeks to kill off any remaining ich in the tank.
  5. Those are collonista snails. Awesome little grazers that come out at night., bonus...they breed well in captivity. They don't get any bigger than what you see now. Populations tend to explode then wane due to the availability of food.
  6. Hey, you're out by me! I'm in Bealeton.
  7. Can't really tell from that pic.
  8. If you aren't doing so already, run some GFO.
  9. If it is a scutus, then it's fine. They are algal grazers. http://www.seaslugforum.net/find/scutus
  10. The bottom pic is colonial hydroids. Bad, nasty stinging buggers. They'll zap anything that touches them.
  11. Can you get a better pic? Next time you see it, put it into a cup of tank water and snap a few pics.
  12. It's normal for chromis to take each other out until the most dominant one remains.
  13. That sucks Steve. I've been there and done that. Mine were so bad that even dosing multiple times with FWE at higher concentrations, the little son of a guns would crawl around the glass mocking me for me feeble attempts to eradicate them. Luckily, the melanurus I picked up devoured what was left. Good luck with your battle!
  14. Hmmm, kid friendly? Not too sure about that. A few choices: The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Bob Fenner Natural Reef Aquariums by John Tullock The Reef Aquarium; Volumes 1-3 by Charles Delbeek Aquarium Corals by Eric Borneman Corals by Julian Sprung The New Marine Aquarium by Michael Paletta
  15. You can also just put a dab of superglue over the top of the tubes.
  16. I've also used reefcleaners. They send way more than you actually order.
  17. It's very common for the micro brittles to all spawn at once. Same for the bristlweworms. the worms may very well have been attracted to the brittle spawn. They smelled food and came out to feast.
