  1. I just got this message when trying to log on to RC. Hello RC Members. Sorry for the interruption. We'll be back in a little while, I need to check something. To the folks spreading rumors and making up quotes, it's pretty sad when you have to resort to lying to try and get members. Slander and libel are pretty serious things. Cheers
  2. :( What a shame to lose such a wealth of info.
  3. I voted. I have a CPR in-tank fuge in my 30g cube. It counts right? I have chaeto and halimenia in there, and the chaeto has to be pruned down weekly or it starts growing out the top of the fuge (like it is right now). I recently took my Remora skimmer off the tank because it was over 6 years old and not producing much skimmate anyway. I also took my canister filter off and am just running a large HOB filter on the back for media. So I guess I'm back to basics with this tank. Here it is a few months ago before I took off the skimmer and canister.
  4. Jan, here's some info from Calfo and Fenner's Reef Invertabrates book: "The spiny green brittle starfish (Ophiarachna Incrassata) is a bold fish murderer!" and more... "Many words have been used to describe the green brittle starfish including satanic and murderous" "Unfortunately, because of it's large adult size (12") and exeptionately adept skill at catching and killing small fishes, a strong warning must be proffered to aquarists keeping this species." "When hungry, this brittle star has also been known to attack shrimps, bivavles (including expensive tridacnids) and quite a few other animals" On a positive note... "Larger reef safe fishes however, make fine tank mates for this frisky feeder. For fearless aquarists, enjoyment of keeping this animal can be multiplied by it's intelligent behavior and habits as it responds quickly and favorably to training with food. Yes, it can even be hand-fed!"
  5. Wow! Yolu've got that nano packed FULL!! I see alot of fragging in your future.
  6. It may have just been a molt. They tend to hide until the new shell hardens.
  7. I found it at Walmart. When mixing up a gallon, what is the correct measurement of pickling lime per gallon? I'd link you to Agu Lukk's DIY kalk dripper, but RC is down right now so I can't access the article from Reefkeeping magazine.
  8. RC has been working on a software ugrade for a couple of months. Seems the whole site is down today.

  11. Tyler, to scrape coraline on my 2.5 I took the handle to an old spatula and attached a plastic razor blade scraper to it. It worked great.
  12. Yes, it does! I really like that new column Lynn. What are your plans for coral placement on it?
  13. Marine Scene in Herndon also qt's their fish.
  14. Nice looking!! Is this on the tank that is having nitrate issues?
  15. John, I just wanted to give you a heads up. Ozzy bagged up some of the smaller nassarius snails for me this afternoon, and there are two olive snails in the bag. They do scavenge, but are also predatory, eating other small snails. Thanks for the buy 2 get 1 sale!!
  16. Isn't that the truth! Thanks for all the info gang!! I found some really pretty ones while looking around online yesterday. http://www.fragglereef.com/zen/index.php?m...bc17f86bb98a840
  17. I'm wondering about these. I've seen some really pretty clove polyps and am interested in getting some, but are they as invasive as star polyps? Is it best to isolate them from the main rockwork? I read in Borneman's book that star polyps will grow over other corals (yup, 1st hand experience here), but it says nothing about clove polyps doing this, so anyone who has them, can you let me know how your's are, where you keep them...etc. Thanks!!
  18. Good because I lost all of my sps corals on Sunday morning. The tank will be ready to house more soon.
  19. Wow, she really took off! Congrats!
  20. Looks good! The corals have grown nicely and the coraline has taken off. How's the 55 doing? Have you gotten a handle on the hair algae?
