I also have a 40 Breeder and a sump / fudge hooked up to my 156 DT Here's what the setup looks like I have always wondered if the macroalgae I have growing on the left is doing any good. For that matter, it is doing any harm if it does not grow well, i.e. die ? I see others in this post also have a 40 Breeder for a sump. Where do you place yours ? I have always wonder if there is a better layout for what I currently have.

I have a decorator crab, about 2", in my frag tank. It was one of those, "It's a sale and it's cool! Let's get it!" buys. I was planning to put it in my FOWLR tank. I did not know how aggressive it could be with inverts. I have also since found out that puffers and hermits don't go well together too. Since I am will to give up on having hermits in my FOWLR, I am now thinking of putting the decorator crab in it. My only concern is that I do have slow moving Urchins and a star fish in it. Do you guys thinks this crab will have Urchins and Start fish for dinner ?

I got a Lawnmower Blenny to take care of my hair algae. It has also become one of my favorite fishes, very active.

I too am looking for a new heater. I am thinking of the Cobalt but I am not sure what material it is made out of. I know it is not titanium since the manual say you have to let it cool for 15 mins before removing it from the water.. I have been leery of non titanium heaters since ... waking up to this in my sump recently ...

I was wondering how others connect their Apex to a Router in a different room. i.e. Router is too far to use a long cable. Acan eat an Anemone ? How large is your Acan ? Any pics ?

I know that anemones can sting corals. I have been lucky that my giant BTA stays at one end of my 156G. Does anyone know if there are certain corals are are compatible with BTAs; more like are there any that won't be killed by BTA's sting ? I have a mushrooms near BTAs and they seem to be fine. Are softies less prone to death by BTA ?

How often do you do your 100G water change. How do you do that, manually carry water ? I did a 36G water change using 6 buckets and I am about dead Acutally, Petsolution saw that you do 100G water changes and decided to bait you with a free upgrade to RC . I used RC and have no problems. but remember hearing that you can go from IO to RC but not the other way around.

If you are sure that this is the only Aiptasia you have in your tank, I would just remove it, period. When you have an Aiptasia free tank, I wouldn't take any chances. I have 3 tanks and only 1 is Aiptasia free, I don't even put hermits from the other tanks in it ! Call it being paranoid but 6 years and that's the only tank without a single Aiptasia. The Aiptasia in my 156G is kept in check by a Klien butterfly. The other tank is infested only manual control with hydrogen peroxide.

Undecided between an Apex Jr or the more expensive Apex. How many of you have purchased an Apex Jr and a few months later regretted not paying more for the Apex ? I know I will need to monitor temp in 3 separate tanks, so I'll probably use 3 of the 4 controllable outlets in the Jr. The Apex allows for 240 "AquaBus Modules" versus 5 for the Jr. What is an Aquabus Module ? Do you ever really need 240? ?

I think the "controller" is just referring to it showing the temp on the display. I have a similar heater. It is good to have the temp clearly displayed.

Just got home not long ago and so far everyone seems normal, all inverts too. Looks like my heater did not have copper or I had removed it this morning. It was easy to remove all pieces since there was nothing else near that heater. This heater was at the bottom of my sump and is never out of water; I learned not to have a glass heater out of water the hard way many years ago. I have 2 other titanium heaters in this system (156DT + 44 Sump). Looking to invest in an Apex to alert me to temp issues due to a bad heater. I have used 3 separate heaters (100watt each) so that a bad one would not wipe out the system. Only issue is that I don't know if I can tell if one goes bad.

Don't have a clue what caused this. There is nothing above it or near it. I do know it was working fine about 2 weeks ago when a water change caused it to turn on. I have had it for about 5 years. It is a Marine Visi-Therm heater.

Work up this morning and found this in my 40G sump ! Lucky for me it's summer and the heater did not kick on ! So much for glass heaters. This heater was always lying at the bottom on the sump. There is thing in there to have done this other than a little sponge crab.

If I just want to monitor the temp on 3 tanks, I assume a Apex jr would do that if I also buy 2 additional temp probes, correct ? How many other probes can I add to the Apex Jr after that ?

Apex does not have a built in WIFi. What do others with an Apex for internet connections if your router is not anywhere near your fish tanks. Is there a rival brand controller that does have Wifi ?

How far apart can the tanks be to make use of multiple PM1 modules ? Are there WIFI probes ?

Too much light for SPS ? I thought they always need as much light as they can get.... maybe that's why some of mine are fading, I've been putting the as close to the top as possible.
