  1. I just received this nice Chalice at the WAMAS Winter meeting. Does anyone know what type of Chalice this is? I can't find it online anywhere.
  2. Thanks, that puts my mind at ease.
  3. I am in process of finishing my frag tank set up. I am trying to figure out how high I should hang my T5 lights over my frag tank. It is about 40 gallons, (48 long, 16 wide, 7 1/2 tall) and the light fixture has 4 (54 watt) T5's. The light fixture now sits about 2 inches from the top, but it is hard or close to impossible to get you hand in tank so I wanted to raise 5-6 inches. I wondered if this would be a bad thing? I also was thinking about the lighting mixture? This tank is for mainly SPS and soley to grow corals. Should I use a 50/50 mixture of blue/white or a 25/75 mixture of blue/white. I want to optimize growth and still retain some color. Any help would be greatly appeciated.
  4. I have a small piece that seems to be doing OK, but noticed a little browning today. I increased my LED's a little bit 3 days ago. Does the Setosa do better in medium or strong light. I think I may have turned up my LED's a little to much?
  5. acrylic
  6. I need to drill my frag tank (NAGA) and wanted to see if anyone had 1 1/2 and 1 inch drill bits I could borrow. I have never drilled before and if anyone could assist or do this for me I would pay.
  7. I would get the dual and I like Chemi Pure and Purigen. Better water quality and change less.
  8. Ok I have it pretty good I guess. I will never get a marron even though they are pretty. My fish bites don't hurt they just catch me off guard sometimes and scare the crap out of me. Its also a huge pain when moving delicate corals around becasue they are right in the way! They do make me mad sometimes and they are getting more aggresive.
  9. PM sent
  10. I have a snowflake and a black clown pair. Both are aquacultured and have started the habit of bitting me when ever I put my hand in the tank. Its like its personal? Is this a mating thing? I had a previous pair that was breeding and never had this happen. I just find it annoying. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue.
  11. I think the worms is a good sign thats its on its way out. I would put in a seperate tank and try and save it, but it may be to late.
  12. pretty fish, sorry to hear.
  13. This is crazy. I hope you plan to produce or sell something like this.
  14. Also the actual wattage of the LED should atleast be 3 watts each. 1 watt doesn't do much.
  15. I would look at the actuall lights and drivers and research. If the light is a CREE than they are good.
  16. Nice looking, but they are blue not purple? Or maybe they look different under day lights or in person?
  17. I hate worms
  18. I would not use markers. I have heard of people using coat hangers and PVC. I wanted a stronger and more hidden piller. Many vendors sell the nylon rods. I originally found these on Macrorock.com, but they were out so I went to grainger.com. I orderwd over the phone. If you wanted bigger pillars or structures I would go with a thicker/wider nylon rod. Maybe 1/2 or 3/4 for big pieces.
  19. Just wanted to share my work on some pillars I have built. I used 1/4 nylon threaded rods with washers and nuts to lock and hold it place. I am trying to add a more dramatic look to tank and will add SPS around top to middle and LPS on the base/bottom. These pillars will not budge. They are very steady. The pillars are hanging sideways in pics to show there stability. I drilled with a wider bit at ends to hide nuts to give it a clean look. Fun and easy project. I will update once I place corals on them.
  20. Tank is 48 long, 17 wide and 7 1/2 high. I have 4-5 smaller koreilla power heads. I was told the return pump will be more than plenty of flow.
  21. Sometime shortly I hope I plan on getting a frag tank up and running. I wanted to get some input/advice from anyone who has one. This is a first for me and I could use a few tips. I want to avoid any major mistakes. Here are is a pic and a design layout of something I think would do OK. The first Pic is just the few items I currently have, and I was just laying out to get an idea. I want my design to be simple and make sure it works well. I plan on growing out SPS and high end zoas under 4x54 watt T5 lighting. Any help would be appreciated.

  24. You wont be sorry. That controller changed how I did everything.
