Reefer (7/13)

  1. aha - so now we know where your marbles went ! LOL
  2. We signed the paperwork / contract with our real estate agent yesterday and we'll be heading down to our condo in Cornelius (just north of Charlotte) next week. Since the reef will stay in WV until this house actually sells, my pet sitter will be here to do little maintenance and I'll return for household and reef big maintenance when needed. I let my membership lapse back in December but I still read the open forums every day. I'll probably find new reef clubs after we get settled. Best wishes to everyone and Keep On Reefin' Glenn
  3. We got another 4" this morning but it's mostly done now .. driveway, sidewalk, and deck are all cleared ... I'm surprised by the amount of snow that's clinging to the tree branches --- and hoping the branches stay hooked to the trees !
  4. We started with the snow about 9am and it had basically stopped by the 3rdQ of that 'thing' called a football game and the snow totaled 8" ... There was some rain/sleet while I used the snowblower on the sidewalk and driveway. The generator is in the garage hoping that I don't call its name - it started up, reluctantly, yesterday but it still doesn't want to be used tonight or tomorrow. School has already been cancelled for tomorrow - not that we care, but others are happy :-)
  5. ditto ... as for customer service, mine developed a leak after 15-16 months of heavy* use. What I found was a broken water pressure gauge. I looked on-line at their parts for a cost/shipping quote but instead found a warranty clause. I emailed them about the problem and rather than a 'what is your model, system, use, etc etc' reply, I got a 'your part is in the mail - we are very sorry' response!! This pleased me VERY MUCH. Two days later I was back in business. * I am on a private well with hard water. I only use one charcoal filter and two cloth/cotton/fiber filters. I put an auxiliary pump to get more pressure but coupled with the COLD water my output is still not at rated capacity so the system runs a lot to make my water.
  6. I think the main part of this scam is that after you commit to the sale, you will receive a 'forged' email stating that the money has been deposited in your paypal account. The buyer will then insist that you send the package, stating that the money won't show in your paypal account until they release it (as if paypal truly was an escrow system.) IF you send the package (the PS3), then you lose! No money will ever hit your paypal .. only "official looking" emails to you stating that the money has been sent and awaiting delivery of the package. As for the stolen credit card aspect, I got a phone call from a 'computerized voice' saying my MasterCard was locked. Press 1 to unlock it or 2 to leave it locked. Option 1 then asked for the credit card number .. I entered a dummy CC# and when they said it was a bad number, I got tired of the game and hung up ....
  7. Thanks - the pump is back on-line with the new Mag 18 impeller
  8. Johnny - do you have MagDrive impellers in stock? I checked your website but it came up empty. I need an impeller for a 7, 9.5 (I think it's a 9.5B), and a 12.
  9. I used to attend the PVAS auctions 'all the time' when I was doing freshwater. Almost 100% of the fish and plants will be freshwater but some of the equipment can be used for any set-up, however most of the auction will be livestock. If you go to look for saltwater stuff, you'll be very bored !
  10. The problem with parting it out is that there is always something(s) that doesn't sell and you're left with pieces and nothing to do with them. I'd rather just hire a caretaker to look after the system while we're gone for the summer. And now that the 'impending snow blizzard' has brought us home from our travelling weekend, here are a few more pics of the system. An early picture of the tank .. shortly after the initial set-up and before the canopy was added
  11. I am selling my system as a Turnkey reef aquarium system ... I will NOT part-out any of the items because if it doesn't sell, I'll keep it. But if it does sell, I am getting out of the hobby. price - $2000 Included - 120g ReefReady aquarium with twin overflows, stand (black), canopy (unpainted) 40g (breeder tank) aquarium/sump that I added one glass panel to for a divider (maintains constant water level for skimmer) 65g aquarium (breeder tank) - I used it for an RO supply Apex Controller with two EB8's Two Vortech MP40's (old style with two extra wetsides) Two small Koralia pumps One small MiniJet of some type Cone protein skimmer (no brand name) with internal pump Avast Bio Reactor with an opened bag of pellets; with small Mag(??) pump Mag9 (??) main pump Two DIY LED light units - each unit has twelve white and twelve blue LEDs; the plugs have manually adjustable voltage regulators to dim the lights. With proper wiring, they can be wired to the Apex for auto-dimming Two 9-button power modules (I plug each module into a wall outlet, then plug everything into a separate outlet on the modules - think of it as a power-strip that your computer, printer, monitor, etc plugs into; commonly referred to a DJ plugs) Avast Kalkwater stirrer (never used) Avast ATO (never used) There may be other hardware that I have and it all goes EXCEPT for my RO/DI Approx 75lbs live rock Notable fish - MATED pair of black -n- white clowns ... Flame Angel ... BiColor Angel ... Lemonpeel Angel ... Cleaner Shrimp ... Purple Lobster Notable coral - nothing noteworthy but lots of softies ... Hammer, Frogspawn, Blue Tubbs Zoas, Mushrooms (several varieties), Palys, Green Star polyps ... Leathers, some type of sponge, If I think of anything else, or if you are interested in whether a specific item is included, just ask Oh yea - the tank is currently in Harpers Ferry, WV .. I'm available 'most' anytime to help deconstruct, move (I have a truck to help), and reconstruct (if you want) but I can not help with lifting/moving of the actual tank - knee surgery and I still don't trust it to not buckle on me :-(
  12. I have a Flame, Lemonpeel, and Half-Black and have never seen any of them around the corals (all softies and LPS) ... Mine are generally fed very well also.
  13. I agree with Steve and Hypertech - my Apex is hardwired to my router and I haven't used the Apex display (except to occassionally look at it) since it was connected. The laptop and iPad interfaces are MUCH easier to read and configure
