Most medicines we use in a hospital tank kill the bacteria so adding something like this is not really recommended. In terms of the marine pure stuff I use it but have come to realize because it is so porous I keep it in a good amount of flow. Other wise it gets clogged up.
QT dosent necessarily mean you are treating with medication and is a loosely used term. People could use that term when getting a new fish or invert or anything in and just keep them in a holding tank for a period of time to just observe that they are eating or to make sure they are healthy. The term QT is very loosely used.
So I currently use k1 for my clown tanks. Your design ideas are interesting and not sure I can really give advice on their effectiveness.
This media is very lite and floats. The biggest thing I discovered was using good flow and not having any dead spots. I have the water coming from the top of my filter tube via maxi 1200 and the water goes through plastic mesh on the bottom to exit. Since the media floats having the water come from the bottom created dead spots where media would group up and not move.
Why do you want to add air to it?
I love this media
Exactly. Which makes this a different species.
Gold Stripe and White Stripe maroons are not the same.
If you were to breed a blood orange and a citron you would have an offspring with the blood of 4 different species.

It's called the Citron Maroon and was bred by Bali Aquarich. It's a cross of WSM and Percula.. It has a clean elegant look to it and you can clearly tell it's got a distinct different look. Matt Pederson the breeder of the PNG lightning Maroons wrote an awesome article.

Well if you drilled your current akimmer lid the lid should have grooves that properly fit the skimmer cup so you don't need the nylon screws. Those are for the universal kits
