  1. Looking good. That's some thick acrylic! 3/4 in?
  2. Looking great! Did you glue those rocks together? or are they being stacked up perfectly?
  3. So sorry to hear! I never have major power lost before until last summer. I live right next to the MARC train station (parking lot is next to my back yard). for 10+ years, every time the power goes out, it would get restored within a few hours or so. But the last one was uncalled for (almost 3 days). So, this time I was prepared, but no power lost.
  4. Taking a closer look, there a few tiny branches left on the colony. Hopefully, they all make it. And the journey continues. A little hope here.
  5. I saw something on ReefCentral, but the whole tank was wiped out. Only birdnest, every else healthy and happy. I hope!!!! Thanks for the offer.
  6. parameters are typical within normal range... ph: 8; temp:82; salinity: 1.025; Amo+Nitrite: undetected; NO3: 0.8; PO4: 0.1 (nothing unusual) ... Although, I notice my cleaner was picking on the colony (not sure if it picking bugs or eating the birdnest, but it would not have done much damage overnight) I have both Red SEA tests and API. No Slim, just turned totally white over night.
  7. I raised this colony from a frag a year or so ago (growth quickly into a colony). A while ago, I notice some branched died, but recovered. About 3 days ago I noticed half of it were gone http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/8139227554/in/photostream So I frag out 2 branches for safe keep. then the next day, almost completely wiped out. even the 2 frags http://www.flickr.com/photos/10002234@N07/8139227080/in/photostream today, as my light comes on, the whole colony is totally whited out except for the foot where some of the polyps remains. I have been checking water quality and the parameters are quite normal. I have not change anything. Only thing I did was a 20% water change last week. Can't figure out what going on, something must have got into the water (undetectable?) or bugs? Everything else in the tank are fine. Ahhhh!!!Bummer!!!
  8. Nice
  9. Did Ms. Sandy spared part of our region? Seem like she wreak havoc up north.
  10. We still have power. Good luck
  11. I would go with PhosBan Reactor 150 and turn down the flow (or use a slow flow pump) for smaller tank.
  12. Did they jacked up their prices on generators? 1KW generator for $1400?
  13. That's very interesting. Keep us update on it.
  14. The male (smaller of the pair) usually guard the eggs (my observation).
  15. Try Costco for a generator. Most likely, retails will not have any. If you can get you hand on an power inverter, grab it! It save my tank during the last power outage that lasted 3+ days.
  16. That was awesome. Well! you can try to re-create it.
  17. +1 Cool, now you have mobile xenia
  18. Just got a generator recently. Hope I don't "ever" have to use it.
  19. Man! that's a lot of plumbings! Can't wait to see your final product.
  20. Wow! tank is BIG! But house looks HUGE. I wish I could move there. Room for rent?
  21. Thanks, This model doesn't have the electronic starter! The companion "supposedly" capable of running a fridge. If it doesn't, I have backup (got my brother in-law to purchased one as well ). So I can run them in parallel.
  22. Well, With all the outages over this past summer and the weather man predicted that we are going to have a harsh winter, so I bite the bullet and ordered a Honda EU2000i Companion (heard a lot of good review about them). Unit just arrived this morning. I have never own a power generator before, so have no idea what to do with it. Read the whole manual, but doesn't really help. I understand that it must be maintained like a car (basic fuel, filter and oil change). Does anyone here own one of these Honda and being up keep? My first step is to prep it and run it for the first time to ensure it working properly as well as get it ready when the time come (hopefully, never have to use it!). Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  23. Just like to share my anemones tank I just upgraded from a 10G FOLWR a few weeks ago.
