  1. Hey man I was in the same boat until I increased the CO2 bubble rate on the calcium reactor. My co2 was running about 20hrs per day and PH was up at 8.6. Now that it runs less but PH is 8.4. Check this out. http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/f67/calcium-reactor-question-tdwyatt-20300.html
  2. From what I have observed each zoa has a slightly different requirement. I think you would be safe with medium flow and medium lighting. I have notices that my pink and orange zoos like higher lights than my green ones.
  3. If you have a large fuge move the yellow tank to the fuge for a few days until the new guy gets used to the tank and start eating. Then introduce with food.
  4. Mine started to act funny after we had a power outage. Nothing major just some trouble saving programs and adding outlets. Also my display went blank. I am a little disappointed in the quality of the Apex. I have had it since march and have send stuff to get fixed twice. For a $500 USA made, I expected better.
  5. Congrats, looks nice and clean.
  6. Thanks looks good.
  7. Hey man you got the new tank setup already? You have to post some pictures. Sorry to hear about your SPS. That really blows.
  8. Thank You that would have helped but I was able to solve the problem. The default settings were easy to get and I was able to get my network back up. Problem solved.

  10. I need to borrow an APEX display module. Please let me know if you have one available. I needed just for a couple of hours. Mine is on the way to Neptune to get fixed and I initialized my base module to factory settings. Anyway I can't load my saved settings because I can't connect to the APEX via the internet. I need the display to set up my network settings.
  11. Thanks for the response. I have 6 t5 and 48 LEDs on the tank. I am able to grow sps pretty much anywhere without any issues. In the time the tank has been running I have lost only one other SPS frag to RTN and the rest have been fine. Next time I will try to placing them lower in the tank. Maybe too much light is the problem.
  12. I am having trouble keeping birdsnest alive and I really like that coral. It slowly starts loosing polyps until it dies out withing a few weeks. I have tried a few different frags from various sources. I have placed them high flow and low flow with the same result. My system is pretty steady and my parameters seem withing range 120 gallon with 35 gallon sump. ALK-9.8 Cal-410 Mag 1400 Sal-35 ph-7.9-8.3 All my other corals are doing ok with some decent growth. Any help or advice would be appreciate it.
  13. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of Bruce's hands the WAV is not getting build for the moment
  14. If you want to make a trip up north I have some you can have.
  15. Man I wish it was closer. I have so many bulbs to get rid off.
  16. do you have a diamond goby or a goldhead goby?
  17. Welcome, you must have met Tom thru Craigslist. That is how he got me. The club is great resource of knowledge. Don't hesitate to ask any question that you have.
  18. I will get some pictures during my upgrade. The only issue that I don't like with my fixture is that I could not put the 4 ELN drivers inside the fixture. Not a big deal but it would have them in the fixture.
  19. I don't think that there is a staple "recipe". The more variety you have in it the better for the fish. Here is what worked for me. I went to Super H and got some fresh Shrimp scallops 2 small squids a couple of different white fish fillet nori sheets mussels added up some Selcon, cyclopeds, golden pearls and some spirulina powder. Ran them thru a blender and made enough food for a year. My fish corals and anemones go crazy for it.
  20. I forgot to mention that the 4 bulb ballast currently in the TEK will not run 3 bulbs. That is why I took 2 bulbs out.
  21. I did a few mods on my Tek fixture and it turned out pretty good. Took out my 3 and 6 bulbs, cut the reflector out on those spots and installed a 2" aluminum heatsink with 4 screws to the top of the canopy. I cut the reflector so I can get the 3 fans cooling the heatsink. I have 24RB and 24CW but if you want pop I would say 24 RB would be IDEAL. It is a lot of light. I only run them at about 50%. The color pop is very nice. I also replaced my TEK T5 ballasts with 0-10V dimming ballast so I can dim them with the APEX.
  22. Hello, I just purchased a used Iwaki MD-70RLZT when I thought i was buying a MD-70RLT. The RLZT is a high head pressure pump and is rated 700GPH at 66' . I really like the pump but I want a little more GHP and I don't care as much about high head. The motors for both pumps are similar (2/7HP vs 1/4HP both at 3400RPM) and they have the same dimensions. Does anyone know if I can change the housing and impeller of the RLZT with the one from the RLT? Also where is the best place to get Iwaki parts? Thank You
  23. So I got a Yasha White Rayed goby and a pistol tiger shrimp for the biocube 29. The only fish in there that I rarely see is a small yellow watchman goby. After acclimating and introducing the goby took off hiding and the shrimp started digging a hole. 5 min later I come back to see the shrimp digging and the yellow watchman guarding the entrance. So now I got a White Rayed goby who lost his buddy. Can I keep 2 pistol shrimp in the same tank?
  24. Why don't you build a stand that the tank will fit into for about 6". Than you can fill those 6" with sand and have a DSB that looks like a 1" sand bed.
  25. Thanks for the tip. My oringinal plan was to install it way low almost at sump level. Not going to be doing that no more.
