To get a good light spread on a 90 gallon do you need like 4 of these fixtures?

A few questions. How old is your setup? How often do you feed the fish?. Do you feed a lot of flake food? Do you thaw and rinse frozen foods? Have you added any new rock lately? I had some pukani rock that released phosphate for a few months.

90 gallon with 35 sump. 29 biocube.

I don't know if you should change man. Your tank is doing really nicely with that halide. But if you are going to I saw a build somewhere where they used a black ionized heatsink. It turned out pretty nice.

I am looking to upgrade my skimmer and I was looking at the Avast skimmers. I have heard good things about them but I was wondering if anyone has one and how do you like it? I have a 90 with a 30 sump medium bioload.

Correct. I figured it out last night but my base module does not respond at all. No lights or any signs of live. It is getting power from the eb8 as I measured the voltage. It's just not responding.

Hello, My Apex unit just came in the mail today . One thing that I can't find is a 12V power supply for the Base Module. Shouldn't this be included?? Any help would be appreciate it.

I did a 14 LED update from RapidLED. I did not buy their heatsik and I made my own. It ran me about $180.00. Works well and the sps frags in there seem happy for now.

What media do you use for your calcium reactor. I was planning on using the coarse media from ARM. Do any of our LFS carry it?

Thanks for the tip. It's a 90 gallon tank and the outbreak is getting pretty bad. I thought it was coralline at first. I have a kole tang and a mex turbo snail in there. I will pick up a couple more tomorrow.

I have this red/purple algae growing all over my rock. It spreads like mini root system and its a little fuzzy. Let me know if you know what it could be. Thanks

The orange zoa colony is gone completely. No sign that zoas were ever present:sad:. The rest of the zoas seem fine and growing nicely. I spend an our serching the zoas with a flashlight last night and I did not see any stars. I kow they are small but I should have seen something. At this point I will blame ALK. I will keep an eye for any future developments. Thanks guys.

All you need it to throw some live rock in there from an established tank the pods will be booming in about 3 weeks. That is what I did and I have pods crolling everwhere. My mandarin is fat now.

Thanks guys. If Alk was the problem shouldn't other corals and zoas be affected. Maybe they are and I just don't see it. My Alk is 8.0 (was 8.8 a couple of weeks back) My MG is at 1500 and my calc is at 500. Sal 1.026. I have adjusted my dosing to lower the calc. I would like to keep at 430-450 just to be safe. My MG has been 1500 for a while now so I don't dose MG. I have Salifert test kits and they are all less then 6months old. I have looked for tiny snails but I have not seen any.

I have one of my rocks in the tank with 4-5 different zoa frags attached to it. They were all doing great until about 4 days ago one of the orange zoa frags (sorry not good with zoa names) started to slowly disolve and in 3 days it was gone. I did not see anything eat or nip at them. There were about 20 polyps that just disppeared. The rest of the zoas look fine. I did some measurements and I found that my calcium was a little high. 500. Can anyone chime in on what this could be? I don't want it to happen again. Thanks
