  1. Very cool idea. Are you using a cooler for holding the food or is it active refrigeration?
  2. a more accurate way is to measure the PAR at different spots in you tank. You can borrow a PAR meter from our wamas members.
  3. Hey do you guys have any tricks for taking videos of tanks with led lighting. The videos come out way to blue if the blues are on. And the corals seem washed out with the blues off.
  4. If you have a small tank you will have success with regular water changes and no need to worry about dosing anything other then maybe calc and alk. By regular I mean a bit more often then the usual once a month deal
  5. Ah man what a shame. I would have loved to seen that one flourish.
  6. I have ordered from them about 4 times and I would order from them again but I am not 100% happy. 1 DOA fish out of the 4 times but on the last order all the fish arrived super stressed and died within a couple of days.
  7. Very cool. Are you dipping the cut part in iodine to avoid infections.
  8. +1 on that. My CS1 is still running strong from the first build we had.
  9. I have had bad experience with the API tests. I had test where the colors never changed. I personally use salifert test kits and have good results with them. The color change is very easy to see on the salifert tests.
  10. My female mandarin is also a lot smaller then the male. They still mate and she releases eggs often. My guess is that if they are mating they are probably healthy.
  11. That's a very nice nem. Can we please get a full tank vid when you get a chance ?
  12. hmm my female mandarin sleeps right in front of the pistols entrance and has been doing this for months. She is a small fish and my pistol is a good size shrimp. i doubt the pistol killed the mandarin but stranger things happen. sorry for your loss
  13. Thanks for the quick response Dave. I am sending the unit to them and I hope it will not take long to get it back.
  14. I am having some trouble with my Apex Base unit. The temp probes and PH probes values read crazy values. From 19 to 220 degrees on the temp and ph values at .78 and .84. They normalize for a few hours when I restart the unit but after that they go nuts again. I called Neptune and they want me to send the unit back. Just checking to see if anyone had any insight before I send it back. I know this might be a long shot but if anyone has any base units laying around I can borrow for a few days. Thanks
  15. Are you trying to shut off the skimmer when full ? if so try this Fallback off Set off If switch1 closed then off
  16. Just ordered a new ac unit. they will installed it tomorrow. thanks for the help guys
  17. thanks Roni. I really think I might have a small leak somewhere. i am hoping some kind of HVAC quick fix sealant can fix the problem. I have completely removed the filter for now just to see if anything improves.
  18. Thanks for the quick response guys. It did freeze both outside and inside. The air flow seems good from what I can tell. the inside coils are clean but a bit rusty on the sides. I cleaned the ice up pretty good but as soon as I start the AC the " thin gas" lines that takes refrigerant into the coil covers up with ice instantly. Don't know if thats normal but don't remember seeing that before. Maybe it's time for a new AC.
  19. My AC froze up last night. I let it melt but i believe it's low on refrigerant. My tank is getting hot quick. Anyone here is certified and has refrigerant handy. Please pm me. Thank you
  20. +1. Some fish stores keep salinity low and inverts are very sensitive to salinity swings.
  21. Yes I had network problems too but I was able to connect directly. I had to flash it multiple times due to errors but it finally worked.
  22. Mine started to do some of the stuff you mentioned when we had some power issues in the house. I upgraded the firmware and that fixed a few of the issues for me. I don't know if that helps but its worth a try.
  23. Thanks for the answers guys. I have (2) D-120's supplemented with 48 Cree LED over 120gallon. The Cree's alone have a 300 PAR. I only have the whites at 45% but i do have the blues at 85-90% I had to lower the blues at about 60% to get the PAR at 600 range. I will play a bit more tonight and try to get it down and to my liking. I also have 8 greens, 4 cyan and 4 Reds over the tank.
