  1. George Michael would pronounce it whamass, and so do I
  2. Most people go with 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch. I would go with the 1 1/2" spacing, a little more room to work with the silicone. But I would go with a 1 inch gap for the spacing for the baffle that is raised from the bottom of the sump.
  3. Sure, I need to get rid of some.
  4. Silicone isnt going to bond very well with acrylic, you can use it but just be sure to lots and lots of it. Any thoughts on bonding the baffles in place with an acrylic solvent like weld on? I've never used it, but I know of plenty of members that have, maybe asked for some tips doing it that way then installing with silicone. It would make a much stronger bond and be very clean looking then the large amounts of silicone you will have to use.
  5. Cd jewel cases work great to use as spacers and supports to hold the baffles in place. As far as applying the silicone in a tiny space, I usually put the first baffle in and silicone both sides, then on the other two I just put it on one side extra thick. Don't forget to nip the corners of the baffles where they meet the silicone in your sump. Makes for a much better fit and little chance of damaging the silicone in the sump as well.
  6. How is your flow? I have mine in a high flow area and it spreads in the direction of the flow. Several pieces of mine have also dropped off and then floated around the tank. I now have some that's growing on the rear glass as well, I hope it stays put.
  7. I've got lots of dwarf cerith snails I'll be bringing, for trade or free.

  10. Anyone seen a price for the low end model, the " S-Series" ???? The P-Series is the one with all the bells and whistles, thats the only one I have found a price for. $700 for a single, $1100 for a double, $1600 for a triple, and $2000 for a quad. I'm thinking a double for a 60 gallon cube would be pretty nice.
  11. This is on a living snail, not just the shell with a hermit. I have no idea how the Xenia attached with the snail moving around. Usually it takes a few days for a frag of xenia to attach to a plug or something.
  12. wow, thats the best looking led fixture Ive seen to date. crazy price though.
  13. I now have my very own wandering coral. http://www.wamas.org/forums/topic/44126-wandering-xenia/
  14. New to the novelty coral market, Wandering Xenia. Some how some of my pulsing xenia got stuck to the back of one of my dwarf ceriths snails. The frag is slowing getting bigger and bigger, dont know whether I should be worried for the snail, he seems to be getting around the tank fairly well for the moment, plus its pretty darn cool. I saw him in my tank the other week but couldnt get a good picture of him because of where it was in the tank. Now I found him out near the front of the glass, but my batteries are dead in the good camera, iphone pics will have to do. You can't really see where the coral is attached to the snail, but you can see from the 2 pics that its slowing moving around. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to get a good macro shot with my good camera.
  15. Im pretty sure we had that as a topic last year, no reason not to have it again. If anyone else has any ideas let me know, Dont have a clue yet what July's topic is going to be.
  16. Someone said cake????? A shrimp cake would be fun to make. I'd have a hard time deciding on the flavor tho, peppermint or shrimp flavor? Anyone ever had a cake with old bay? Im starting soon on my nieces cake this year. I'm shooting for a 4 ft tall cake, should be lots of fun. Maybe I'll have enough supplies left over and I can make a cake for fragfest.

  19. You can fix the brace, with it being empty it should be very simple. Basicly what you need to do it attach a new piece of acrylic to the broken brace. This does depend on where its broken, if broken near the edge you may not be able to fix it this way. Cut the new piece of acrylic ( 1/4 inch) to size, then drill holes at each end of the new brace. Trim out the old broken brace and drill matching holes to the placement of the new brace. Attach with nylon bolts and screws. Some people I have seen do this to a perfectly intact tank, they didnt like the shadow that the center brace was casting into the tank. The clear piece of acrylic lets the light pass through. Also, you can buy replacement braces, but it requires you to remove the entire piece of trim. Its alot of work and most of the people that have done it will tell you they should have just bought a new tank
  20. Thread closes tonight, only a few hours left.
  21. I know that some of 100 gpd membranes have a worse rejection rate then the 75 or 150. The rejection rate is closer to 90% then the "normal" rate of 98-99%. As far as the flow restrictor, someone else on here was having a problem with them before, can't remember who it was tho. Maybe they will chime in or someone else will remember.
  22. I'm in the camp without the valves on the drain. A properly sized pump(with valve to control extra flow) with a properly sized drain should be easy to make run smoothly and quietly. I prefer the durso standpipes, very easy to make but they can take up some space if placed inside an overflow box. You can also make them external if you have the rear panel drilled, I hate those huge black overflow boxes in a tank.
  23. No worries
  24. I have gotten clowns, damsels, pj cardinals, and a niger trigger all from petco, had them for over a year and half until I got rid of them.
  25. LOL ^^^^thanks for the help for POTM
