What is your alkalinity and other tank parameters? Specifically alkalinity. The general look of all of your paly/zoa's is that they lack fully skirts, or skirts at all. My first guess would be alkalinity is low, ie. below 8 and I have issues with mine. I would also look at adding iodine, which may also be low due to the load caused by the amount of polyps you have. (no PHornets in there btw ) Nice video - it helps to see everything and what they look like. There is also sea spiders that can do this as well. I would watch the tank at night (generally only when they come out) with a blue or red led flashlight (or regular flashlight) to see if you can see anything walking around on them at night. No chem warfare. I have a full mixed reef off everything you can imagine, some right next to each other with no issues. Thats just my experience.

Nice! 48x24x12 ? That should be quite a bit different than your current setup. I look forward to checking it out as all top down.

Why I do not like stealth heaters

Somebody ought to try and set up a group buy on the EJ if possible. (I'm flying to Southern then Northern Cali tomorrow for 2 weeks to visit family, otherwise I would look into it) -
There is usually a gaming or something section, you just have to have it point to the Apex's addy or the dns site url. I forget already - lol Yeah, what ^^^^ said. It was easy for me, but I'm a techy dude. I'm not good at explaining it, more at just doing it. If someone needs help they can just pm me for my # then call.

Same - weekly, sometimes more. + Salinity Temp, pH ORP daily (on controller ) I do spot checks of NO4/PO3

Now I get to stare at my favorite coral all the time Yeah its a bit of work and nice to have a little "walk through" to help me along. They have one in the help section of reefchat, but it doesn't help with everthing like Boret's did.

I use my laptop for that stuff - on/off, ect. That would be nice if I had an iphone though. I have been messing around if you happened to see it in between refreshes - I was changing the fonts and color.

I'm a bright guy lol Yeah it is pretty bright. I like it for now though. I'm sure I'll get sick of it and change it out later. I'm just happy it is done. Its been on my mind since we talked about it. I just didn't want to have to reset my router and all that jazz. It took a couple hours. Not too much work though. I'm stoked now that I'll be able to check my tank status while I'm gone. I just use the dns URL on my phone to see what the xml says. Its pretty nice. No reason to buy an iPhone now

It looks like I figured it out

Thanks Boret - I finally got around to doing this. I also can check it on my phone now which is nice too - even without an iPhone or a widget you can use the dns page to show the status. How do you move some stuff to the right - like how you guys have your names on the right?

That'd be awesome Mike. I still don't have a Duncan, or picked one up since I saw that one, cause we haven't see one that we like that much. Did it stay the same teal color?

Serious Health Warning -- when handling corals
Sikryd replied to johnnybv's topic in General Discussion
Glad to hear it things seem to be working out for you John - and that you went to the hospital in time. I just got done with doing a water change and a bunch of tank maintanance. It makes me feel better about looking like I am getting ready to do a proctology exam on a horse wearing these every time I am in the tank messing around, when I hear stuff like this: -
I'm not sure if they have another one. I see random pictures on the LA page. No DD updates there. I get those via email. Your allowed to compare them to any LFS, of your choice I don't get the question. If it is to be arguementative or a general pain the butt...I'll pass...
-
Looking good Mike! I can't find the Duncan though :( lol I liked that one.

I ended up buying a nice small point and shoot - still 12meg, but not the same. But I KNEW I would never take a bigger camera out. Its all on what works for us

Nice video - I like it

This Scolly is a PIG! I wish this first picture would have been in focus

Cool video John! I'm going to try and make it back down your way after the holidays if I get a chance.

+1 I would be the first to %^&* if they were photoshopped or anything. They are spot on. They do use REALLY good photographers and stuff, but the stuff looks exactly the same. Same with the colors, good color, and usually stays that way.

Done deal - I'll be picking that up. Gotta love the help on the forums!!! Thanks

DD has a LOT of those type's coming in lately. I presume you like the "bulbous" look of it? Is so, I've seen a lot recently on DD.

Do you have a link to a whole house surge protector? I asked at Lowe's and they said they didn't have one. I thought about installing one to protect the whole house, but haven't been able to find a local retailer that sells them. I guess I could ask my electrician too.

I agree - "trying to rip people off" might have been a bad choice of words. Selling WILD frags that aren't proven, are freshly cut, and will most likely die or brown out, to me is a rip off. Vendors know this, and continue to do it to boost their bottom line. I don't agree with that at all, and would much rather support ones that have a better business model as well as ethics. The business's that are NOT giving fair deals are the ones that will eventually go out of business. I can't see how a business with a good business model, ethics, and reasonable markup, marketing, and sales tactics will go out of business. Everyone needs to make a living, how certain companies do it, and where the emphasis is placed will either sustain a business in the long term, or die a slow death. I can't tell you how many pm's I get from disgruntled customers replying to my outspoken posts, that they have finally been burned, or have finally had the last straw dealt to them with different vendors. I tell them the same thing I am doing, support the stores that take care of them. Sometimes paying more, is worth not having to deal with the bs.

+1 That is what I am doing.

+1 I'm in both camps on this one, and understand the whole surface area arguement and all that. Although I don't have it in the most ideal conditions 100% of the time though if I had to guess, so I think the difference is neglidgeable. That is I'm not 100% that my flow through my reactor is "perfect" to make the conditions the best for the carbon to work the best, ect. ect. ect. Its one of those things I just get the middle of the road stuff and don't worry too much about it. I have never left it in there longer than 4 weeks anyways since it is usually gummed up by then anyway.
