  1. I wish there was a "LIKE" button for these awesome photos! Thanks for sharing.
  2. Our company during stay-cation (aka quarantine). Please share your tank. Thanks! Maureen IMG_4109[1].MOV
  3. Happened across this post tonight quite by accident. I'm chuckling because it was written by me exactly 10 years ago, and I still feel exactly the same way about Wamas. Thanks to all who contribute in positive ways here. Thanks also to officers past and present. You are all appreciated!
  4. You're a SUPERSTAR Sam! Thanks so much for sharing your trip experience with us. (I think JM should be nicknamed Bilbo.......... he seems to go on many adventures!)
  5. Thanks! We're hoping to hear from DaveS and get an update from Hilary who is also an experienced diver. We'd like to both be certified by October for a November dive trip.
  6. Jon and I are sincerely sorry to read of Jos' passing. We would take field trips to Roozens when we were setting up the 125 in Fredericksburg and a couple of times a year afterwards. Jos was often the one to wait on us. Very knowledgeable, very kind. Prayers for the family. Maureen
  7. Thoroughly enjoying this thread and your pictures! Maureen
  8. Hi Sara, Jon and I have been working on our stock list for our 350 and agreed that some of the most interesting behavior comes from having bonded pairs of some species. We have several bonded pairs in quarantine right now. I love the bonded neon blue and yellow line goby pairs (the tank is big enough to support both). They scoot together on the surface of the rocks and are quite entertaining. We have bonded orange stripe prawn gobies (unfortunately their paired shrimp perished shortly after arrival) and a pair of yellow watchman gobies. We also have pairs of fire fish and orchid dottybacks. I love the antics of the tail spot blenny and could watch him for hours. Our next phase after these are out of quarantine includes anthias and wrasses. The final phase is the more aggressive fish, mostly tangs. Can't wait to see pictures of your new additions! Maureen
  9. Thanks Roni and Jon for the very kind words! I know setting up a tank and maintaining the tank is a heck of a lot of work for all of you, but the results are amazing. We lost a couple of weekends due to vacation, but right now Jon is in the garage working on the sump reconfiguration so I'm sure there will be further updates on our progress soon. I'm enjoying looking at everyone else's tank build threads a lot. So anxious to get the tank on the stand and wet! Maureen
  10. It is so very exciting to see this build coming together with such thorough thoughtfulness and planning IN MY HOUSE! It takes more hours (and many weekends) than Jon's posts reflect. We've shared this dream for a long time, but 99.9% of the work is done by my amazing husband. I'm mostly the cheerleader, sandwich maker, and frag buying influencer. Its taking a while to get this tank wet, but it is going to be spectacular when its done! Thanks for coming a long for the ride! Proud Fishwife, Maureen
  11. We've moved! Please move Jon and Maureen Lazars' pin from Fredericksburg to Alexandria! Thanks.
  12. So excited to read this Billy! Jon and I love Thai, and fish tanks of course! And we know yours will be beautiful. Its like having a tank tour open at any time! We promise to stop by next time we're up that way. Wishing you all the best! Maureen and Jon
  13. Thanks so much for this comprehensive explanation! We're doing regular water changes and have a tank log on Excel to record temp/salinity/nitrates/water changes/media changes, etc. Some of my zoanthids thrive, many just seem to fade away over time. I will share your post with Jon and discuss if we should consider making any changes. Thanks again, Maureen
  14. really beautiful, healthy corals. Would you please share your water parameters? I am having trouble keeping some of my zoas from melting away. We're not beer drinkers, but we like pizza! Jon might be able to help you out with pictures (especially as you're so close). And I'd love to travel along on that Woodbridge crawl that Roni mentioned too. Maureen
  15. Thank you Tom! Great first impression. She has lots of plans..... we'll see how they come to fruition.
  16. Jon and I finally made out a trip to Romping Stomping Pets and Aquatics based on Roni's recommendation. The owner, Linda, is an incredibly pleasant gal who is more than happy to price anything you're interested in and order it for you if she doesn't have it. She is currently running a POWER OUTAGE FISH RECOVERY SALE - buy one, get one at 50% off. The sale was supposed to end today but she will hold it over until tomorrow, Monday Jul 9, close of business, for WAMAS members. You can call her, visit her website, or her FB page, to get pricing and availability. Linda is not currently stocking corals, but plans are in the works to add them. Here's Linda's information: Romping Stomping Pets and Aquatics 13279 King's Highway, Suite 1, King George, VA. (540) 775-7745 saltwatersanctuary@yahoo.com http://www.rompingstompingpets.com When we called to check availability for specific fish Linda mentioned the sale (and also that there were a bunch of Richmond Reefer folks there....... ) and what she didn't have she would order and honor the sale. She held our fish for us, which I thought was pretty nice as she didn't know us. The inventory was pretty picked over when we got there, but we came home with several fish, and placed an order for several more. Its a small storefront, very friendly. Her prices were darn good. She's only 10 minutes from Colonial Beach and the Boardwalk and several highly rated restaurants. So in cooler whether it can be a date day for us that includes more than just fish stores and Lowes or Home Depot! I highly recommend checking her out sometime. Call first to see what she has.
  17. ^^^^^ That is the same number that comes up when I Googled it and also on the Mr. Coral FB page. I sent Sonny a FB message and let him know that there was a post looking for Adam's number and to please update the numbers on Wamas. I hope it works for you. Maureen
  18. Would love to have you any time you're down this way! At least you're closer to us than most! Maureen
  19. Gorgeous. I too was really surprised at the small size of the tank, you have scaped it beautifully. And thanks for the tip on the Advanced Aquarist blog, I actually found them on FB and "liked" them. Good stuff. Maureen
  20. so sorry to hear. Naso tangs are one of my all time favorites. I hope this is the final loss for Wamas members and that everyone has their power restored. Boy its been a tough couple of days, and triple digit temperatures on their way for the next three days. m
  21. Very cool. Awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing.
  22. Very nice Roni! Hope to see it in person again soon! Maureen
  23. We're hoping to get a quote from Bob M. (YbeNormal) who built stands for several members, most recently Roni's. His work is awesome. So glad you started this post, great responses! Maureen
