  1. Ditto, my thought exactly. +1 to Hilary's idea to repurchase batteries as soon as emergency is over. Maureen
  2. We were without power for 32 hours. We lost it just after we went to bed, about 10:30. Since the power has never historically been off for long, we went to sleep. We woke up in the early am and realized the power had not come back on. Jon scrambled to get the battery operated air stones in the tanks, ran out for ice for the refrigerators and then went off to buy a generator. He was able to find one at the 2nd store he went to (first was sold out that morning). There were 4 generators on the shelves, and Jon was one of the four guys in line to get one. Once home, Jon assembled it and built the cable that would allow him to plug into the dryer outlet and not have to run extension cords all over. Once he got it started he checked the tanks. Unfortunately we were too late to save our gorgeous powder blue and kole tang, or our 2 anthias. Maureen
  3. Local meaning around a 90 minute drive one way!
  4. Agree about QT. Petco is never our first choice for livestock, we much prefer to shop BRK, Fins and Feathers, and Petland (which are closest to us - I'm sure there are others too). We used to love Sean's store Aquaco also. I wonder if we'll ever see him again? Good guy.
  5. We're down in Fredericksburg. The Petco off I-95 at exit 143 has no salt water fish tanks set up right now. The Petco off I-95 exit 130 had multiple tanks, I bought a small yellow tang from them. They fed the tank so I could see that it was eating. The clerk also said you can put in orders and pick up at the store. Orders should be placed Thursday evenings. If you don't like it when it comes in you don't have to take it. I saw an abundance of ORA clown fish, some coral beauties, and some others I can't remember. The tech has his own salt water set up at home and seem knowledgeable. We were there for the $1 tank sale, not for fish to be honest. Maureen
  6. Wanted to let everyone who has been cheering on our new tank know that the move did not happen yesterday as originally scheduled. The movers had to return to a job that hadn't finished the day before. New tank move date is July 1st. We'll post pictures when it arrives at the house. Sincere thanks to Dave (mchippo) for working with the moving company on his end and helping us get it set. Much appreciated. Maureen
  7. You're welcome. And thanks for figuring out "local" was actually supposed to be location. Sorry for typo. Hope it works out for you. Maureen
  8. sorry, we didn't look at all of them. But we did call first to see if they had the 40s, so that's what I'd suggest you do. Go to Petco.com for store local. Maybe they can even check other stores' inventory for you. Good luck. m
  9. Thanks so much for posting! We picked up 2 40 gal breeders today in Fredericksburg off Rte 3. And a sweet little yellow tang for the RSM, just the size I've been looking for. They also had the teeniest fox face I have ever seen. Maureen
  10. That's a neat idea for a field trip! Great teaching/conservation opportunity. Good Job PEA!

    WOW

Jon and I were in the store around 2pm today, so sorry to have missed you! Came away with a similar sense of awe! Yannis is the General Manager and is doing the ordering. He has such passion for the hobby and huge plans for the store, it was impossible NOT to get excited! They have definitely stepped it up. There are still the "bread and butter" corals and fish, but he says he has many connections from previous LFS he has worked at and can get in some amazing stuff. I encouraged them to keep updating their Wamas page as well as facebook with pictures and inventory. Stuff seems to be flying out of the store before they get it posted. He said if there was anything specific we were looking for to leave our name and number and he would get it for us. Totally new business model seems to be in development there and it is pretty exciting. Next time we'll have to plan to meet up there! Maureen
  15. Congrats! It is beautiful. We're regulars at BRK. Enjoy. M
  16. Very exciting! I personally love the stone and wood idea, especially for a bar area. Hope you'll post before and after pictures of your man cave! Maureen
  17. I the comments under the video: Question: *Disregarding heat & money*, if you had to choose either MH Radium's or EcoTech Radion's for a customer keeping SPS coral, which would you choose for growth & color? I think many people want a decisive answer. Answer: Ask us in a year or two We really can't rush in answer so soon. Awesome find Ryan S! Thanks for posting. I found "Vivid Aquariums" on Facebook and Liked them so I can tag along for the updates. Maureen
