  1. After QT of the fish, I would add them all at once to spread any aggression. [i have multiple tangs in a 210 - added all at once when I upgraded from 2 tanks to the 210] few threads on Reef Centeral - reef fishes you may want to look at; here is one: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthre...hreadid=1534314
  2. +1 I use a python hose to siphon out the ditrus from my sump when I do water change. During water change, I pump 20+ g's out with mag pump and then use python for last 5-10 g's to get detritus from sump.
  3. Will work for . Can help lift ... all depending on date you do the work.
  4. The tang police just called. They were complaining about the destruction of their home. It seems they would like a wee bit more rock in their tank. They said they will be for the one known as Z-id of Rob. All kidding aside, it looks nice - just a lot more open than I'm used to seeing the chip-o-nator tank.
  5. Looks good Robie. I think I can recognize a few of those frags in your tank.
  6. Things are looking great out at the new location. Lots of space. a great amount of dry goods in stock + a nice selection of healthy looking fish that were eating everything I put in the tanks, less the few I had to buy. Will be one impressive store once everything is up and running. I even got some mangrove plants for $5 each to add to my system (still lots of those in stock). Worth the trip - and there are some x-mass trees out front the store if you need one of those as well. Thanks Johnny & gang for taking the time to show me around
  7. I've had my majestic since Dec. 2003. Way cool fish. No issues with sps, so lps, or my squamosa. May have picked at zoa's, but I only had a few in the tank + could of been idol that ate my zoas as the idol also ate my leathers. I've kept potters and flame together in past - they did well for 5 years in my old 125.
  8. angels - I would get 2 - Coral Beauty & Flame, 1 more tangs - I would go with one of the powder - avoid hippo/regal anthias - get 3 Sqammipinnis (Females) as my personal experience is they are hardy and one of the 3 will morph to a male over time (unless you find a supermale at a lfs which has nice colors).
  9. Is there a pond for SOG at the new shop? love the pink mask

  14. I know Dr. Foster Smith has been using the Ice Cap mogul type at their LiveAquaria Divers Den site in Wisc. exclusively [14k ones] for last 2 years. The frags they grow and show on site look good to me. I'll be trying one soon along with a 14k DE 150W

  16. Mike, You are welcome to any coral I have when ready for this tank. Lighting - let me know if you want me to check with Chris and Anthony at Ice Cap and see if they can support your efforts with ballasts, bulbs, fixtures ect. If Johnny can't help on skimmer, let me know and I may have another connection for you on a mce we can try. Best wishes
  17. Hi Laura, Welcome to WAMAS! As for UV - I run a 40 watt Current system on my tank all day, every day. When I started in the salt hobby in 2000, the so called "trend" I was told was that most people were moving away from UV because it would destroy all the beneficial things important to keeping a reef tank. I can say that I went without one in my original 125 AND twice a year during spring and fall when I would see biggest tank temp swings (as either house heat or AC wasn't running as often) my tangs would show signs of ick. In early 2006, after doing some research on people running UV vs. those not, I felt based on my research I would run UV on my new 215 I was setting up. I believe it's one of the best things I've done for my system. My powder brown and regal/blue hippo so no signs of ick ever in new tank and those fish are prone to showing ick first. AND I don't see any loss of life or colors of corals & my pair of manderins don't seem to mind UV as they have been in the tank for 2 + years and find plenty live pods to eat. Sure water quality is a key - and UV will help improve water quality. You don't have to spend $300 on a unit. If you can't find a quality one at a local store, you can always looks here for ones that start at $118 + ship. Good luck in your research.

  22. Hope it has a USA warranty and not a grey market one - if warranty is important to you. If not a grey one, then great find on price.
  23. I like what kenrockwell says on his reviews. He has reviewed almost every nikon and cannon lens - at least ones he got his hands on. other like - i tink dpreview.com. Chris -143gadgets is better one to ask on macro lens.
