  5. See here: http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=27918 what I posted back on Jan. 28, 2009. Mike - Is it an old issue you had edit problems or the newest one?
  6. I got a few fish from them back in 2004. Good service back then. Today, I would look at some of the LFS's first for what you want & most will hold in their system for a few weeks if you work with them and possibly pay half down so they know you want fish after it comes out of QT. Then if they can't get it I would look to liveaquaria diver den since they offer the guarantee and fish from their wisconsin place are on a 30 day QT before posted to their website so fish will be eating most foods when you get it. just my .02
  7. A prodecurtor would have nothing to do with this complaint. This is a civil matter with orbitec attorneys filing suit against pfo. Looking at the docket, PFO has been fighting it as there are 80+ docket entries. Most of the filings have been filed under seal so that trade secrets are not revealed. Since the original filing of the complaint, it looks like Orbitec amended their complaint and they are now fighting over motions for summary judgment. Looks like some well know aquarists in the lighing field have had their depositions taken. Last docket entry was on 1/30/09.
  8. All I can say is WOW! Keep up the good work Khanh!
  9. I found this a good read on how calcium reactor works & making adjustments Calcium Carbonate Reactors Sanjay Joshi: http://www.reefs.org/library/talklog/s_joshi_062997.html --------------- I was using AC III to control it but I think probe need checked as I think after last calibration it was reading high. Effluent rate - I try to set at about 100 ml per min. I use B-ionic 30ml dosing cup and count 15 seconds and see where I'm at. I've never tested it for calcium. I have in past tested alk to see if I'm at 20+dkh to verify its working. Bubble rate - I'm probably around 80+ / min right.
  10. I got a frag of it from Leishman in early 2006 a few months after I got tank up and running.
  11. A little history on the terrible towel. Worth a read. See link for story & pictures. Don't diss the symbol until you know its history ... and who benefits from the sales of it.
  12. Vendors - Please post in your shop; Members print and take it to your local fish store or pet shop. Winter.pdf
  13. + 1 Got one of these brown looking clones [sorry couldn't resist ] from the king at the cancer benefit auction. It looks a lot better under tank lighting and settled in next to my very large green w/purple tip bta. Hope my clown pair keeps it happy. History of my other Rose BTA can be found here: http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=1640&hl= I now own 2 different strands of Rose BTA's
  14. Looks good bro! Keep up good work.
  15. For what I know about buying tunze stuff, you can buy: - Just the pump - pump plus a single controller - only controls 1 pump - pump plus the 7095 multi-controller or pump plus neptune aquasurf- provided you have a Neptune controller to run it. BRK & Naga are both local tunze dealers. Beyond that, you can look at any of the major online e-dealers - champion, premium, marine depot for them. sample: http://www.championlighting.com/home.php?cat=612
  16. WAMAS Members, POST your nomination here
  17. 1) IMO, there isn't really a problem with having high Alk other than it being hard on your pumps and plumbing. I find it beneficial for a tank as many of the bad types of algae will not grow when your ALK is on the high side. If testing shows it at 10, I would keep it there. Keeping ALK above 8 is far more important than trying to keep calcium at a static number point. 2) Time of day you make your test can impact PH and changing up times can cause your numbers to jump around. If your testing at end of your light cycle, I would expect PH to be higher than if you test say 12 hours after your tank has been dark. In the long run, your better off to drop the $75+ and get a PH Monitor for 24 hr testing. You might even find a used monitor or controller here on the for sale area. 3) Phosphate testing - unless you want to drop $70+ for a Deltec kit, I have found that most if not all of the kits in the $25 and under price fail to prperly show what levels are in your tank. But IMO you would be better of spending the money on a RO/DI unit if you don't have one, and if you do, timely replacing your filters to keep it running in peak form.
  18. Thanks to all who donated any item and/or money to this event. Also a thank you to Dave and his family for hosting. Looks like $1600+ was raised and that does not include what will be made off the Caps tickets donated by the Rik. Thanks again! Your support will touch the lives of many children. Regards, WAMAS Officers and Mike aka (Rascal)
