  1. My fish do it also and they are anything but starved as I feed my tank a lot. I have seen it happen in the wild while diving. Normally smaller fish eating larger fish's waste. I guess since their digestive system is not the best there is some nutrition still left in recycled waste.
  2. Yeah, that's an old video. Not bad for a high school drop out. Here's an old thread with a video from CNN: http://wamas.org/forums/topic/59584-large-tank-watch-this-video/?hl=%2Bdrop+%2Bout&do=findComment&comment=516996
  3. I'd add the GARF bonsi to the list of corals I really liked. Moga, you still have those nice GARF colonies?
  4. Welcome to the club. Nice looking tank you have there.
  5. Shot Fazio92 a PM as he has had a bunch of clowns in his tank long term and he might have some info for you.
  6. Looks pretty nice! I fear if you add the large tank out there you are looking at big humidity and maybe mold issues with the nice things you've already placed in the room.
  7. That's pretty cool and funny. The poor goby took a few tries before he figured it out.
  8. Those numbers from his website seem extremely high, almost false. I'd say most of the fish collected for the trade come from the Indo area, not Hawaii.
  9. These look like the smaller type that have never bothered any corals in my tank and were pretty harmless. The population never got crazy, just a few here and there on the glass.
  10. Well the stock lights have failed already. The actinics went out in one fixture after a few hours of being on. I emailed Innovative Marine and I got a return call already. So far customer service has been good from them but mailing this light back is going slow the build process up. Thanks for everyone's input and ideas.
  11. Nice looking pic, great polyp extension!
  12. It sounds like Lutz123 has gotten good growth with the basic stuff that I plan to keep so I'm going to give the stock lights a try. I'll supplement later if needed. Thanks for the input!
  13. Nice job on drilling the tank! You might have to cut a little of the outer trim away to get the bulkhead to seat flush. The good this is that it is up high so not much pressure on it.
  14. That fish is only thinking one thing, get me out of here and back into my normal surroundings. Probably the same thoughts most are having.
  15. To me sand or no sand depends on two big factors, what I want to keep and what flow I plan to have. If it is an SPS tank with high flow I would go BB. If the flow isn't strong I would add sand. If you have fish that do best in sand then of course you should provide it. The SPS rubble will trap detritus so I wouldn't try that.
  16. This sounds like a cool concept. I don't have any ideas for you on this one but tagging along to see how it works out.
  17. I picked up a Nuvo 16 from Quantum Reefs this week and I was wonder what members here are using for lighting over their Nuvo 16. Planning this to be mainly an LPS with a few ricordia and mushrooms, no SPS. Anyone running the stock lights and growing corals?
  18. For fish and corals they can handle temps in the upper 60's as long as it doesn;t last more than 36 hours. As it was said, O2 is important and flow for corals. It doesn't look like you have sensitive fish and corals so you should be fine.
  19. Wow, that is a lot of weight to put on an upper floor. Super nice tank and I love the fiberglass and starphire combo.
  20. Welcome to WAMAS. Besides some members here who might be able to help you out we also have some sponsoring vendors that maintain tanks. I've posted links below. http://robsaquariumservice.com/ http://www.reefescape.net/services/services.htm http://www.marinescene.com/
  21. It looks like a sub adult moorish idol that's kind of between the too color variations.
  22. Nice! That is always an exciting thing to see.
  23. Yes, It would be true for the types of anemones that multiply via assexual reproduction. Not all anemones go that route but some do.
  24. I agree, but I'd guess that most fish in the oceans don't die from old age either. They are probably eaten before they reach old age.
