I had a pair of tomato clowns that were 17 years old when I gave them to another club member. I think he still has the female which is now over 20 years old. Some articles on life spans of different fish. Welcome to the boards. Have you looked into CMAS yet? It is club that might be more local to you up there. http://www.cmas-md.org/modules/Jig/index.php -
Can remove the Duncan or put an egg crate barrier around it forcing them into the BTA? Once the BTA becomes the host they might not want the Duncan anymore.

QR needs to have Rogger's update his website as it only shows Petland as a local dealer.

Since you are not looking to buy one I'm moving this to the general forum.
-
Are you looking to buy one or just borrow one? You posted this in the "for sale" and "want to buy" section. Also, you posted this four times so I've removed the other three duplicate threads.
-
Something else I see all the time are posts where people are telling everyone that they are going to be out of town and specify the exact days they are leaving and coming home. That is not info I would share lightly and not in the "general" section.

Has the tail completely healed up? How is the aggression issue going?

How's the eye looking?

I agree, either eradicate it by going fishless and treating fish in a medicated tank or roll the dice and take a chance. It's up to you and your comfort level and availble time, we can't answer that. Is the extra time or effort worth it to you or not? I spend a good bit of money on my fish so eradication makes better sense for me but the I feel lucky approach works for others.

Post up some pics so we can see exactly what you have.

wow, 1" is scary! Watch those corner seams. I know you can buy replacement braces for most size tanks online. Is there enough material left that you can nylon bolt on a strip of acrylic to replace the plastic bar like the image below? My 210 Oceanic had a glass center brace that I removed and replaced it with a 1"x3" wrapped around the top of the tank, nailed at the corners, and I hade two all thread rods with washers and nuts holding the the long sides from spreading. The whole frame rested on top of the tank by the rods. I drained the tank below the half way mark, placed the frame on top and tightened the nuts until the frame was even along the top. Then trimmed the all thread off.

So you are saying to let it ride out this ich like it is a cold?

This link might help: http://wamas.org/forums/topic/41558-ichy-battle/?p=350779 I agree with AlanM, odds are they now all have it. They might not show signs on the body, look for heavy breathing as it attacks gills first and some fish only carry there. That's a good point about QT'ing everything if you want to be sure to never have ich, MV or something else. I do QT on all my fish but about six months ago I got some marco algae and just placed it into my tank. A week later a huge outbreak of MV hit and I was throwing several dead fish a day out until it was under control. I know it was the macro algae because I had nuked the whole system with copper weeks before and nothing new was added but the macro. I've done copper on Puffers and they were fine. Just use Cupramine at 1/2 to 3/4 of the recommended dose. I used to have that view of letting them ride it out but after a couple large outbreaks I now start treatment earlier. The problem with giving the advice of just "ride it out" is you don't know exactly what his fish has and if it is MV then in two or three days that fish, maybe the whole tank, could be dead. Many people have trouble telling the difference between the two which is bad because a treatment for ich can actually make MV ten times worse, talking about hypo.

I agree the smell is terrible! A dead anemone is very close to being just as bad. I like the coffee and lemon ideas. I'll have to give them a try.

Welcome to the club! Show us some pictures of your tank when you can.

I would stop feeding for now as camelcruiser suggested. If it is still expelling then make sure the lighting isn't too bright. Have you done anything like add carbon that might clear the water up and let more light hit the anemone? I would also do a large water change as I've found it helps greatly in turning around an ailing anemone or coral. Plus, it would help get your nitrates lower.

Most eye injuries which cause pop eye heal up in a week. I have had some that never went away but the fish still went on with a some what normal life. Fingers crossed!

Drilling another hole in a RR tank...possible?
Coral Hind replied to CoralAquaCulture's topic in Do It Yourself
That's a great option, drilling into the back instead of the bottom. Nice job finding that!- 29 replies

Drilling another hole in a RR tank...possible?
Coral Hind replied to CoralAquaCulture's topic in Do It Yourself
I've drilled extra holes in overflows like that, just confirm it isn't tempered. I doubt it is but it is still a good idea to confirm. Besides the polarized glasses you could look at the current holes you have and see if the edges are still white from the drilling or if they have been melted back down from the tempering process. The overflow weir holds back the water pressure of the main tank area and the silicone helps support the glass.- 29 replies
