  3. So you're going to sell me one? HEHEHEHE James
  4. I'm bringing 1 mj 900, 1 mj 1200 and 1 seio 600 powerhead. Depend on if I can find a 5 gal bucket with lid for it, I can bring 4 or 5 gal aged water with it as well. James
  5. Doesn't low magnesium level also knock ca and alk out of balance as well?
  6. Can't wait to pick up the pe shrimps from Tim. I can then feed the remaining mysis to my discus and feed the good stuff to my salt water fish. James
  7. It's important that you also measure your alkalinity as well and not just the calcium. The trick is to get your calcium and alk in balance with each other. As your tank matures and more corals are added, you will then need to monitor your magnesium level because low magnesium can throw your calcium and and alk out of whack as well.
  8. I'm trying to find a thread that I saw at least three months ago. I could be wrong but I believe it was here on WAMAS that I saw this thread. Someone came up with an idea for a QT tank of using a bioballs and an MJ as a filtration. If you guys know what I'm talking, please let me know. Thanks. James I found the thread. In case if someone is interested, it was a thread that I believe Dan got from another site. Here's the link to that thread. http://www.petsforum.com/personal/trevor-j...ntinetanks.html James
  9. Make the man an offer. I just asked my wife for it and the answer is a loud NO. Can't have anymore till after I get rid of my 55 gal tank. James
  10. How much you're asking for it? James
  11. The only way I can mount mine is vertically so I've been trying to make a habit of disconnecting the power from the UV before I turn off my return pump.
  12. My sump had so much nasty stuff in it before so I used a python to clean most of it out and it drained into the sink drainhole. James
  13. So what is the best way to mount it to keep it from running dry? Horizontally?
  14. XM 14K.
  15. That is so exciting. I would love to be able to stop by take a closer look of the set up. James
  16. I finally got around replacing two PC dual actinic lights and one 150W HQI 10K bulb yesterday. I replaced the dual arctinic from 460 to a 420 nm spectrum, and the Coralife DQI from 10K to XM 14K bulb. My wife's first reaction when she saw the new lighting was "WOW." I had to admit, even I was very impressed with it. The new actinic light with a different spectrum actually made the lighting in the tank even better. Everything seems to stand out more. Once the HQI light turned on, the tank no longer looked washed out like it did before. What amazes me were how much more vibrant everything in the tank looks. The acan lord that I got from Steve Outlaw, my God, what a difference the different spectrum lighting makes. I am extremely happy with it. Now, I just need to take some pictures and post it for you guys to see. James
  17. jnguyen4007 First initial and last name. Because I like James Bond films, 4007 is short for "For 007".
  18. Update on my 30 gal tank. What looks like endless cyano problem on my tank might be coming to an end. For the past few days, I've been noticing that I'm not seeing as much cyano in my tank as it was before when I first post a thread asking folks about it. I left my tank alone for the past three days to see if I see any additional accumulations in my tank. I checked it a moment ago and I see no visible traces of it in the tank. That is great news for me. I still see some in my sump where the chaeto are, but that is easily taken care of. I will remove as much of that stuff as I can from the sump and use the python to suck away the rest and do a large water change at the same time. Basically to clean and drain out as much of my sump as I can. I figure two or three massive water changes like that in the next week should get rid of all remaining traces of cyano from my sump completely. James
  19. I somehow managed to miss that part about your sunroof being open and having 2" of water in your car. Sorry to hear that. I'm paranoid of that happening to me that I open my sunroof maybe two or three times a year and that's it. James
  20. LOL It's not as bad as it seems. You can also use clean, empty milk carton to hold it. Depending on the size of your tank, one gallon of each should last you quite a while. James
  21. Here's a link for the improved two parts system. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php I used to use the two parts, but have not done so since I started using the Kalk stirrer. I still keep the two parts in case if my calcium and alkalinity is out of balance. James
  22. All of the frags I got until now are still quite small so I will not have anything to trade. But, looks like I will be buying some if any are for sale. James
  23. Oh no! You met Josh first???? Trust me when I say that he's the abnormal one amongst all of us. LOL Welcome to the club. I've never heard of anyone having a tank that large before. Like the rest of the folks here, I can't wait to see the pictures of it. Shoot, let us know when we can have a tank tour. We'll be sure to bring a large handkerchief to wipe the drools from our mouth as well. James
  24. badfish, Don't mind these guys. They're just a bunch of nutcase that's all. With the exception of Yauger, I'm still convinced he's an escapee from a mental ward , everyone here are really nice. I would be completely in the dark if it weren't for these folks to help me along with my hobby. Whether you end up living in Northern Va, MD or DC area, chances are, there is at least one or two WAMAS member living nearby. James
  25. Sean, Welcome to team. Like YBeNormal, I'm not too far from you as well though he is a bit closer to you than I am. James
