  1. Wasn't that because you tried to practicing fishing in their koi pond?
  2. I just found a small star fish on the wall of my tank next to a snail that I have. it's body is much more solid than that treesprite found. I even went on liveaquaria site to see if I could find a picture of it that they sell but couldn't. Maybe someone can tell me what kind it is. It doesn't have long arms like that of Treesprite, but rather short and the whole frame structure is stubby, and the color of it is like that of a typical rock. This is the first time I've seen it. Don't know where it came from. Just thought it was cool having it in the tank. James
  3. That's his way of showing you his affections. LOL
  4. unfortunately not everyone is a responsible hobbyist. People don't always look for quality nor do they care on where the fish they buy came from.
  5. to clean off the corrosion from the pins, you can use a small knife or blade to scrape the stuff off. to remove dust, from the inside, use a compressed air can. be sure to do it outside so you don't get dust and whatever else all over the inside of your house. I have to admit, from the look of that ballast, it's pretty nasty looking. James
  6. Jason, I have to agree with you, Johnny and his folks at BRK are awesome. When one of my black/white false percs that I bought from them died I think about a week after I bought it (and it wasn't even health related), Johnny gave me a nice discount to replace it. Talk about an un-suspected surprise. For me, going to BRK is like a kid going to a candy store. It's hard for me to walk out of there and not buy something. They have great selections and excellent and friendly staffs. What could be better. James
  7. I come over to Bob's place about once a week, sometime more because I always seem to have questions and need what I considered his expertise, though he will always deny that he's an expert. I tell you, this man must have been born with a mitre saw in one hand and a planer in the other. I saw The in-wall tanks set up he has in his house, the tank and canopy that he built for another client, and the work that he had done up until now on Weapon-X stand, the man is the Einstein of wood working. I don't think Bob understands the meaning of cutting corners or does he approach any projects whether it be for a hobby or for someone else lacadaisically. I have no doubt that Weapon-X will love the stand Bob is building once it is finish and so will anyone else who sees it. James
  8. Under what lighting spectrum is it? The color is so intense. Beautiful....
  9. Can't you lift the whole thing out or is the rock a big piece with other rocks on top of it?
  10. I love the Mandarin that I got from one of the members. Talk about a personality.... I also have a watchman goby that is also pretty cool as well. James
  11. Be careful with the low lighting. Depending on the corals, but I think most of those that rely on photosynthesis to produce food need to have moderate to strong lighting to survive. The rocks you got from Hung went straight from a live tank to yours? If so, then you shouldn't worry about die offs and dangerous ammonia spike. With that said, it should be safe for you to leave your corals in the same tank as your rocks. James
  12. I'm in Manassas. I guess Winchester is still a bit of a way huh? James
  13. I would like to deny it, but I can't. It was a hard lesson learned. We can make it neat and tidy, but that's about as far as it goes.
  14. And don't bother to try to imitate new tank seal by applying only a small amount of silicone. It won't work. All you end up doing is creating more of a leak later.
  15. Sorry Dan, I would love to help. Been out sick the past few days. Tomorrow is my first day back in the office so there's no way I can skip out. If you can do it later in the evening, I should be able to come by. James
  16. LOL It pays to be sweet and nice to your wife once in a while. That's how I got my Skins tickets. LOL
  17. There is a home game that day. I will be at the game. Sorry Bob, I won't be able to be there to help you. James
  18. I'm so glad I saw this. Here I was thinking of getting a tank built from them the next time I'm ready to upgrade. Looks like they won't be getting my money any time soon. James
  19. WOW. I don't think it's supposed to do that.
  20. Hung, From what I heard from other folks and read, save your money. Live sand just isn't worth the money to spend on. James
  21. I'm in the process of ordering a 150W MH light from drfostersmith. I see they have the compaq brand on sale. Even their regular listed price is nearly half that of other brands such as XM, USHIO and Coralife. Does brands matter in term of quality or are they all typically the same? James
  22. Thanks for the idea guys. James
  23. I contacted Miwaukee tech support dept and they said that the probe can be submersed all the way up to the black section on top of the probe. In another word, it's not fully submersible. I will have to see if I can make something that can hold it then.
  24. I use aragonite sand. Live sand is expensive and not necessary as live rock will eventually populate your sand for you as well. I think some folks here use sand similar to what you can get from places like Home Depot, but I would imagine that you have to do some serious rinsing to remove as much of the dirt off of the sand before you can add them into your tank. James
  25. Aaron, Is that a typo with your salinity reading? Also, if you only been cycling your tank for couple of weeks, it might be too soon to start adding fish.
