  1. Thanks... I asked her to get me another picture...but it was gone by then.
  2. I have a relative at Marco Island that posted this... "Anyone know what these creatures are and the shell? Found them on the beach at Marco Island. The smaller honeycomb is a coral I believe. What about the larger creature that looks like chicken meat? I was thinking the sea cucumber family...anyone know what it is? She is very curious to know what it is...but I don't have a clue what to tell her... She says its about 10 inches long. Any ideas???
  3. Well I'm back...i'm now an official WAMAS member again. So sorry for the basic questions....but for the stuff i have for sale...whats the best way to show pictures of the items? To add them to my post? or load the pictures someplace else? and link to them from my For Sale Post?? Thanks for your help...
  4. Hello to those I haven't seen in a couple of years... Long story short, I will be getting out of the hobby, and have a ton of stuff for sale. How does "for sale" work these days on WAMAS? Auctions? Do I need to re-join and pay membership fee? Carl
  5. Yes - That's the UV...but the person that allowed me to go behind the scenes couldn't tell me any of the speicifics...like the total wattage of the UV.
  6. I recently visited the Toronto Zoo. They didn't have anything to speak of as far as Marine tanks...but the kids really enjoy the Stingray exhibit. I was more facinated with the room behind the curtain. Some specs that I gathered from the teenagers working the exhibit: 16000 gallon display 900 gallon daily water change 1 ten foot skimmer 5 large filters - I presume with sand or something in them?? 5 smaller media (phosphate or other) filters 1 very large chiller Ozone of some sort I didn't see an RO/DI system, but saw gallons of PRIME 2, 1000 gallon water change tanks And many boxes of IO Salt For your viewing pleasure: More pic's
  7. If you can...I also suggest you use 1 inch for the flow, and cap it at 3/4 at the ends. Or, BRK sells flex pvc. -Carl
  8. I'll take a few pictures tonight. Progress over the last couple of weeks... I've taken down the 65 gallon, put everything in a 29 gallon. The 65 is gone this weekend. I've plumbed the return from the tank to the CL pump with flex pvc. I've gone with a real mish-mash of plumbing...a text book case of not being consistent. I am now using pex for my return from my OM to the tank. How do you make them quiet...if they are not standpipes...just two bulkheads out the back of the tank. I actually don't know if mine are quiet or noisey yet...but figured I should ask now, and only have to build them once. I like the CL idea... With my 65 tank. The tank was all equipment, no fish. Very large bakpak pre-skimmer two heaters, and three powerheads. My clownfish were laying eggs on the powerhead every two weeks... So, I want to go to the other extreme...no visible equipment. And what I've discovered over the past couple of weeks...that in order to eliminate powerheads in the tank...it takes 10x more plumbing to create a CL system under and behind the tank...it's spaghetti!! Thanks for the heads up
  9. Looking good! Let me know if you find a local store to get locline... or if you'll be ordering some oneline. -Carl
  10. Thanks Trevor and James and Brian. -Carl
  11. I have a 70 gallon tank that needs a UV. I'm getting a UV not because I've ever had ich or any other disease - in 8+ years. I'm getting a UV, because my water is always a tint of dirty green. I really don't notice it that much, until I do a water change, and look at the water in the empty white salt bucket. So, with a 70 gallon, do I need a 25 watt? or will a 15 watt suffice? Like everyone around here with skimmers...everyone buys a skimmer rated for a larger tank.. So do I get the 25w...and then theoretically I can run the bulb for more hours, and it's still effective, even if it goes down to 50% effectiveness based on life of the bulb? Then, what flow do I put through. All the UV's have ratings for max flow...but what is the minimum flow? or the perfect GPH flow I should use if I want to kill any possible "bad thing".
  12. I assume it's NOT your email that counts...its the WAMAS time stamp on the thread. And it makes sense to me that it is the highest bid BEFORE 9:01...in my example above.
  13. If someone puts a bid in for $50 at 9:00pm, and a 2nd bid comes in at $51, also at 9:00pm, which one wins? -Carl
  14. Justin - Thanks for opening up your home to us this afternoon. Great tank! Great greenhouse...I'm looking forward to the follow-up tank(s) tour in July once you've got it all running!! -Carl
  15. Sean's new Aquarium company is selling and using the Sun System/Blue Wave ballasts. I don't know how it stacks up with the others... and btw...I do have a dual 250w ballast for sale!!!!
