  1. Bob, now that's not true. Just because I camp out in your garage now and then, it doesn't mean that I practically lives there?
  2. That looks real good.
  3. If you can find a used glass tank with that similar dimension, you can buy a sheet of acrylic and cut out the baffles for it, then applied silicone to the baffles and the tank to hold them in place. James
  4. I believe this is their site's link: http://www.aquaholicsinc.com/ James
  5. Tee, You need to put down in your profile where you're located. If you're not too far off from me, I buy it from you. I need it for my 10 gal QT tank. Thanks. james
  6. There's the mark of a good daddy. Your little girl and those kids in school are lucky to have you around to do something like this for them.
  7. Beautiful looking tank. Too bad I missed a chance of seeing it in person. What size tank is that?

  9. Your wife did say you packed on some meat that day. Now we know she was referring to the extra steak and nothing else.
  10. So it was Jamal who stole the second steak! LOL
  11. LOL Thanks Howard.
  12. I dread going anywhere for more than a day because of my fear of something like this. Couple of years ago, I had 2 discus died on me because our then housemate, did not know what a thermometer and a heater looked like. The heater I had then went bad while we were away, it shot the tank up to 105. Our housemate called me up and told me that they died and he didn't know why except that the tank showed condensation under the glass top. I asked him to tell me what the thermometer reading was and his replied was at 80. It turned out the dang fool gave me the temp setting on the heater. Not sure about you, but it's hard for me to ask someone on this group to watch my tank for one simple reason, most if not all of us have families and other obligations to tend to. Even if you folks are only a few minute drive away, that is still a few minute too far and too long for me to ask for help and feel comfortable doing it.
  13. As quoted for the combination of Mag flakes and Epsom salt: "This recipe is preferred, but its advantage over recipe #2 is minimal in most cases." They also did say for recipe #2: "This choice is not a good way to go if calcium is supplemented by calcium chloride, because together they will force chloride excessively high." I like to play it safe so I would have to agree with you, Jamal, and go with the combined route. James
  14. I found three magnesium recipes on reefkeeping.com and I'm interested in knowing who uses what and why? Recipe 1: Using Epsom salt only Recipe 2: Using Mag flakes or the equivalent only Recipe 3: Combined 7 1/4 cups of Mag Flakes and 3/4 cup of Epsom salt
  15. Holy crap. I just read this post and saw my name on the list of folks going to see to Howard's tank. I looked at my calendar and saw no mention of it. It was on Sunday, Oct 7? I can't believe I missed this one. Actually I can but it's definitely not intentional. James
  16. I have to Thank Bob for helping me with this. Bob helped me made sense of the wiring from the diagram and such. The last time I worked on anything similar to this was back in 8th grade. With Bob assisting me, working on the ATO made me felt like a kid again. I had a lot of fun doing it. James
  17. I pm'd you with my information. James

  19. Matt, I do have a water pressure gauge if you want to borrow it. James
  20. gorgeous. The kids must be loving it. Why can't we have teacher like you back when I was in elementary school... Great job Dave.
  21. I wouldn't even use an HOB filter as the medication will kill off any bacteria that's on the filter. Once you take your fish off of medication and do a massive water change for at least couple of times, then run your filter and or skimmer at that point. It's normal for your fish to lose interest in eating during treatment. An increase in temperature can get them to eat. But I'd advise you not to do that until you know they are healthy again and are off of medication first.
  22. I haven't treated my salt water fish yet, but I've done it countless time with my fresh water. Hopefully my advice will work for salt water as well. I got my advice from other folks so they're not my own, but they worked. Get a sponge filter and hook it up to an air pump. Oxygen gets rapidly depleted when fish is medicating so you need to increase oxygen in the water to help them breathe better. the sponge filter will also increase water movement. Follow the instruction for the medication. After 7 days, do a big water change and I would continue treatment for another 7 days to make sure your fish is cured. Do another water change. At this point, run your filter and keep an eye on your fish for a few more days before you return it to your main tank. James
  23. I've never had deer meat before. I'll try it. James
  24. Thanks Howard for all your hard work. Thanks for stepping out and putting a cowgirls lover in your place. OOPS, guess I shouldn't be saying that since I do need his help with my ATO. LOL James
