  1. I'm drooling again..... Great pix. James
  2. so far, both the torch and the hammerhead are opening up fully. I see the torch extends some of its tentacles out to sweep the water, but they tend to stay to the side away from the hammerhead. If I see that it becomes a problem, I will definitely move one of them away. Thanks. James
  3. I got my candycane from one of the members about a month after I got my 30 gal tank growing. That must have been around 6 or 7 months ago. Anyway, at the time, I got it with something like 4 polyps on it. It grew so much that it broke off from the rock that I glued it on. It's been sitting on the bottom of my tank since and it now has something like over 20 polyps on it. James
  4. I assume the feeding for the acan is the same as for the micromusa. As far as the location for them, I have mine sits on the sandy bottom of the tank. Is that OK or does it needs to sit on a rock or does it not matter? James
  5. Uh Oh. Now I'm getting worried. I have two heads of the hammer head. One of the head is within striking distance of the torch. How do I know when it needs to be moved? If the hammer head remains close most of the time, is that a good indication that it needs to be moved then? James
  6. Does anyone if hammer head and torch coral can be placed next to each other or will they sting each other? James
  7. I don't know how much more heat it adds. I run a 25 W on my 30 gal tank and I didn't notice any difference in temp. James
  8. Most likely those whom recently purchased an ACIII in a group buy will be switching over to the timer on that if they haven't already. I will have to do that over the weekend. I upgraded from a regular light timer to the coralife (the one with two timers knob on it), so now I'm upgrading again. LOL.
  9. Glad to hear that you avoided the disaster. That fire could have been a whole lot worse. I will now have to push up the time frame to set up my ACIII just so I can reduce the risk of this fire happening in our house. My tank is down on the ground level and the mainfloor is on the second floor. If the fire happens, we might not know until it had spread. Thanks for giving us a head's up. James
  10. You and I know that, but apparently my little 2 year old didn't. LOL Looking back, it could have been a whole lot worse. She could have done it without me knowing it the whole night and let the food disolve and the ammonia spike be so high that it killed everything.
  11. HA! And that's where she fools you! My daughter, like my wife, are nothing short of devils in disguise. the horns and fangs come out when they're home alone.
  12. Thanks all for your advice and support. I think I would still be panicking right now and even took the day off from work so I could tend to the tank if Bob was not available to help me last night and to put my mind at ease. I definitely will keep everyone's advice and make sure that there is a mean for me to lock up food, chemicals and such to keep them away from my curious little daughter. James
  13. Talk about nearly having a heart attack last night. I was down stairs playing Call of Duty 4. At one point my daughter came down stairs then went back up stairs. Not realizing my daughter came back down stairs again because this time she was extremely quiet. After I got done with one of the stage of the game, I looked over to where my salt water tank was, there was my daughter, sitting on the floor with 1.6 oz container of flake food opened. There were flakes on the floor and the inside of my tank was filled with it. Not only was there fish flakes in the tank, but in the sump and the fuge section as well. I almost panicked. The first thing I did was took a small net and tried to remove what flakes I could out of the tank, shut it down and did about 50% water change and tried to suck up as much of the food as I could with the python. I then again used the python to remove as much of the food out of the sump and fuge section. Afterward, I called Bob (YBeNormal) to see what else I needed to do. Bob suggested that I set up an HOB filter to get it to pull some more of the floating fish flakes out. He also suggested of using a diatom filter that he happens to have. Bob came over, set it up and spent the next hour helping me vacuumed up much of the fish food that settled to the back of the tank where the python could not reached. I let the diatom filter ran until nearly 2 AM before I was satisfied with it then I connected it to the sump to clean up the rest of the food waste there. I checked on the tank and the sump this morning and they're definitely looking much better. I'll test the water after work and if necessary, will do another big water change. With Bob's help, we managed to divert what could have been a total disaster with my tank. James
  14. WOW. Very nice. From the pix, it looks like your skimmer is not under your tank, is that correct? James
  15. I have mine running 24X7 as well. The way I look at it, it can only helps. James
  16. I spoke to a Marine Depot rep on this awhile back back when I bought my first Jager heater and thought it was a mistake when I saw the label that said it was not fully submersible. They said that in order for Eheim to meet US Utility compliance code, they had to say that it was not fully submersible. Eheim assured Marine Depot that they kept the Ebo Jager design and did not make any changes to a top quality line, and so therefore all Jager heaters produced under Eheim's name are fully submersible. I have a total of 6 Jager heater ranging from 150 W to 250 W and all of them are fully submersed with no problem. James
  17. Tub blue zoa is nice.
  18. I have a QT tank but that is only 10 gal. Otherwise, I would lend you mine. The emperor angel is a gorgeous fish. Hate to see it sick like that.
  19. David, Sorry about your angel. I can't tell from the picture of what it is. Can you describe what the ulcers look like? If you have a QT tank, it might not be a bad idea to move it to the QT tank so to not possibly infect your other inhabitants until you can figure out what it is and how to treat it. James
  20. I sent a PM and have not gotten any responses as well. James
  21. Now that Bob has free time again on his hands, anyone who wants a beautiful customize stand build that will last longer than you will, you know who to turn to.
  22. PM sent. James
  23. I think using a dremel tool might be better. It makes for a cleaner cut. James
  24. Raf, Is it true that if you get stung by a jellyfish, the best way to stop the swelling and ease the pain is to apply urine on it? James
  25. My fireshrimp likes to come out from under the rocks and jump on my arm now and then. The pair of black/white false percs now and then would try to nip at my fingers or nibble at my arm. A bit unnerving when you're not expecting it and yes, a bit of tidalwave action occurs too. James
