  1. I love DrPepper but that concentrated smell was a bit too much for me.
  2. Bottom line, isn't it safe to say that if you're comparing apple to apple, then the increase in wattage for the same brand, type of bulb, and ballast will equal to increase in heat output? The only other sure fire way of knowing if the increase in wattage will mean increase in heat is to try it out and take a temp measurement.
  3. The smell does make you want to gag the first time you smell it, but the bright side is that the smell will go away after awhile. I have a 55 gal drum that used to smell like concentrated Dr Pepper and a 30 gal drum that used to smell like concentrated pepsi. Now, I can't smell anything at all unless I put my face into the drum.
  4. I believe the one I bought from Jamesbuf is gen 2.
  5. I have that on 30 gal tank. It does the job very nicely.
  6. I caught it last night. To watch it in HD is incredible.
  7. I have a 35 gal hexagonal acrylic tank from TruVu that I used to house my african cichlids in. I love the clarity of that tank. The only thing I dislike is that I have to be careful each time I clean that tank as to not get any of the sand onto the scrubbing pad and end up scratching the tank. I agree with you though, we do need a good glass builder in this area. I've heard more bad things than good things about GC so going with them on my next tank upgrade is not an option.
  8. I personally refused to shop there ever again.
  9. You might want to send them the pictures of what you saw as well. Those Oceanic tanks are not cheap.
  10. With live rock, rinsing it with real good with water is all that you need. save your vinegar for regular cleaning of your pumps, etc.
  11. It happened to mine after 1 day of usage. I was able to get neptune to send me a free replacement.
  12. I have several emerald crabs that I think might be time for me to take them out of the main tank. I just need to find a way to do it without knocking everything over in the tank.
  13. What do you have left? Everything?
  14. I started using bioptim and biodigest a month ago, and using reef booster slightly longer. I can't tell yet if the combination of bioptim and biodigest has any effect on the reduction of the green hair algae in my tank yet. I heard that it takes time so I will keep an open mind and wait it out. If after another couple of months down the road and things are still looking roughly the same as where they're at now, I will switch over and give it a try. One thing that is a certain is the reef booster. It definitely brings out the colors of my corals. All the corals seems to be extremely healthy.
  15. I user salifert and I think a fairly large number of ppl on this group use salifert as well. I find their test kit a bit simpler to use than some of the other ones that I used in the past.
  16. IF you can wait, I'm sure YBeNormal will put together another group buy in a couple of months and you can get the booster then.
  17. I don't know... Someone like me with 2 left hands find the plumbing part pretty unnerving too. especially when it comes to cutting the pvc pipes and figuring what part I need and what goes where. if it weren't for YBeNormal to help me, my tank would have never gotten off the ground.
  18. I would love to come take a look at your tank. WOW, that must be something else. I can't make it because I will be helping my parents putting up a storm door and possibly replacing the entire sliding glass door as well.
  19. If you have a weekend to spare, buy a used tank, the larger the better, buy a thick acrylic sheet, cut it out to make walls inside your tank, and glue them with silicone. The actual work time is very short. Even a non handy dandy person like me can do it. If you want a nice sump built with acrylic, see Naga.
  20. I will help out too. Just never occurred to me that there is anything in the education section.
  21. you should look into Grey Seas aquatic skimmer. It is built by one of our own members, Dan Lichen. Several of our members have them.
  22. OUCH!!!!!
  23. I think clown fish in general are the most notorious when it comes to biting. My female black/white false perc love to take nips at my hand whenever I have to put my hand in the tank for any reason. Because I wear gloves, it kept their bites from bothering me. Ofcourse if my arm is in the water long enough, she starts going after my forearm and that's when it hurts.
  24. unless you accidentally put a rock on it, it will show up once it's comfortable with it's new surrounding.
