  1. What's the best thing to use shim one end of a tank stand? I just moved to a 15th floor apartment, and the entire concrete slab is at an angle widthwise, going towards the balcony (which is around 25ft long, enough to roller skate on). According to the roller skate, there is no lengthwise angle, but I have to find my level to be more accurate.
  2. I guess I'm going to have to go back to just having just noisy pipes. I can't get a glass box without making it myself, which I just can't do any time soon.
  3. I broke my external box when I was trying to move my tank. I can't be doing any DIYing with glass right now, and I am pretty sure there are no prefab glass boxes anywhere. The bottom of the box had 3 holes for BA plumbing. My tank holes weren't drilled to any template, so they won't match a prefab design, plus I don't want to take out my internal box, so I have to have glass. I can provide glass scavenged from tanks that either broke or I'm not using (I broke a 20g recently, and have a couple 10-16g tanks sitting around). I've got diamond holesaw bits. I don't have any silicone, I'd have to buy some. Thanks
  4. Could someone make one for me?
  5. The external box was DIY.
  6. I had to move my tank, and in the process I broke the external box, which was glass. It was a glass box with 3 holes in the bottom. I'm not in a position to make a new one, so I need to ask you folks if anyone knows where I can get just the external box, without having to buy an inside as well? It has to be able to attach without being held by bulkheads, because I'm not taking out my internal overflow, and because my tank holes were not drilled in specific positions for a pre- lmanufactured box. The tank itself has two 1.5 inch exits, which won't work for a BA, I need an external with 3 holes.
  7. I try to keep fish in mind when doing aquascaping. Sometimes I see tanks with aquascaping that really conflicts with the fish in the tank. I think people just don't plan things out ahead of time.
  8. Sometimes eBay doesn't follow it's own rules to not allow prescription drugs or prescription medical devices. The way something is advertised might made it hard for eBay to realize what is being sold.
  9. Oh dang. WTOP news radio just said something about a couple going to the hospital because they took their fishtank supply in response to the president's claim. PLEASE DON'T DO IT !!!!!!!
  10. I would tear up my tank to get the damsel out. It is probably going to harass most other fish you try to put with it.
  11. It's been several years since I saw anything on any fish I had. But the last couple of times I saw white dots, my treatment was to let the fish shelter at home and to make sure there were no sources of undue stress. They got better on their own. There was at least a year between the two incidents.
  12. I just watch, treat only if needed. Years ago I did FW dips and copper on every new fish. Then I had a fish that was so stressed from the process and the confinement that it got lymphocystis (symptom is isolated kind of large white raised spot that might be confused with fungus or something else). Lympho goes away on its own and isn't usually that big of a deal. I put the fish in the DT and the lympho went away after a few weeks. That was pretty much the situation that made me realize that sometimes the stuff we do does more harm than good. If you get all captive bred fish, you won't have to worry so much. Or, you could buy from our local vendors who do comprehensive processing of incoming wild caught fish for you.... the extra cost of livestock is worth it in both cases.
  13. LOL.
  14. All the names in different regions is why it is good to know the species names.
  15. I'm trying to figure out why my dottyback stayed out of sight for over a month. It's the only fish in the tank, so I can't figure out why it would behave that way. Anyone want to conjecture on the reasons some fish do this? Are they just screwing with us?
  16. Holy cow, suddenly the dottyback showed up today, looking just fine after over a month of me not feeding it because I thought it had died and I have no other fish to feed. Fish that can feed themselves are always great to have. I kind of wonder why it hid itself all this time.
  17. Those who have done it usually don't make millions. I would be happy just breaking even
  18. I personally wouldn't do it, because if one tank goes, they all go.
  19. LOL. My cousin would throw a rock in the river and his black labrador would dive in and bring back out the exact same rock. If a dog can do that, it can find particular species of corals.
