  1. The forum still has me as a BB member not a WAMAS member - is there a way to fix it?
  2. Is is cryptocarion or amyloodinium? People mix them up. Cryptocarion can only live without a host for a couple of days, while amylodinium can live for a couple of weeks without a host. I had amyloodinium several years ago and have been completely free of disease since then (YAY!). All I did was put the fish in QT for 2 months and treated them while in there with copper, while the parasite life-cycled itself out in the display. I did freshwater dips before putting the fish in the QT, and a couple times after that. Nothing died except for the parasite.
  3. i have to write for my job and edit what other people write, and am very obsessive with it, however my personal relaxation time has no room for writing rules and however it comes out is how it stays
  4. id like to go but its almost 50 miles away
  5. perhaps we should do some "local" meets in between regular club meetings and events
  6. The other option is to buy the water. I get purified water for 34 cents a gallon, by filling my recycled containers myself at the Safeway where there are self-serve machines. Of course you have to do the math on size of tank, cost of filter media, and convenience factors.
  7. I can vouch for Tropical Fish World - Ive been going there for about 10 years, since I first started salt. TFW is the only place I know of in Monkey County that gives any kind of guarantee on saltwater fish for more than 3 days (it's 10 days at 50% back). They recently took out some wall to make a small coral & invert room. They will special-order for you and hold items. They will pay to take things off your hands. Editing today to add that I went to Congressional aquarium yesterday for the first time in a decade, so I can give my opinion of it. On the negative side: there were dead fish in 3 different SW tanks, just a small selection of corals, and the liverock didn't really look "live". On the positive side: There was a good variety of cleanup critters, and the employees were very friendly. Updating again: I learned today that Congressional aquarium sells "dyed" - i.e., tortured - fish. Based on that, I can say I won't be going back there for sure..
