i'm jealous of your water circulation, completed plumbing, and "running" system. congrats. keep the updates coming!

Me too! Looks good in person :)

You've gotten a lot done just in 3 days!

Got spare time to work on mine, lol

Looks good brother! Can't wait to see this bad boy stocked!

I'm still trying to decide if I want to build a hood or not.

Thanks! I can't wait either, haha... but I am. Honestly, I wouldn't have the hood if it wasn't for the ol' lady. But the ease of bringing it up and down now with the lifts is awesome, so I don't mind it at all. It was my compromise to her want. I actually have it lifted off still as I don't mind the suspended look, and it keeps the light from spilling out the sides, eh, maybe it'll stay up.

You'll be there in no time! It took a lot of research and planning, as it was my first rodeo. Taking the cycle slow is the key to working on all those other parts that I normally would focus on last. Plus it really helps that I've got a fantastic tank to work on already.

Lookin good Isaac!

Thanks! I'm on my way!

Haha, yeah, I got a lot more done this afternoon than I thought. I had to whittle down all the toggle bolts in order to have them fit in the ceiling, but the weight is holding just fine. Spare time, not so much! this Apex is going to take most of it. I was going to hard wire it and carefully cable from the computer over to the other side of the room, but unexpectedly we found a spot that we want to buy this afternoon. Say hello to the rest of my spare time!

I'm going to temporarily halt some of the more permanent, "well fix this up when we move out" projects just in case. My Fiance and I had this, "well, we really like it... do you think we should go for it" talk right after I drilled 4 fresh holes in our ceiling. If we do get it (we are keeping our fingers crossed real tight) the 150 will be coming with me, and the 57 will be on a quick sale. I might even sell all my SPS off (which at this point I have quite a few really nice pieces) and start from SPS scratch. My original process was going to be keep SPS in the 57 for as long as possible 4-5 months, and then move it over. Maybe I can find a local wamas member to hold it for me if it does happen, I don't know, we will see how life plays out the next few days. Send good thoughts my way.

Let me know when you need help moving stuff. I am always down for heavy lifting!

Thanks man, we are working on it, will know by tonight for sure. It's been a stressful, but very exciting. I don't want to get excited before we know for sure.

If I am up and running before you move I will hold your SPS as long as you need me to. After all at the rate I grow SPS I will get some free frags.

I think I will TXT it to her phone  Still have her number locked in with yours !!!!

To late I already purchased it. Will a 250 gallon fit on top?

Possibly a pico 250cup tank....I believe it's very much more befitting for Isaac to put his 57 on,lol

Especially if they are keeping the chairs his wife adores....

(edited)

oooh I know where he is moving to....a little birdy told me....cough cough...bromance...cough cough

Lol. Doesn't look like it right now.

So I hooked up my JP-40's on the 150. They are worth the money. Glad I didn't sell the MP-40's though Both offer a different type of flow, IMO. The JB's are very powerfull, even on the lowest setting, and they offer fantastic surface agitation. The MP-40's are considerably smaller, and offer a bettery flow variety underneath the tanks surface. Needless to say, there is a great looking, turbulent wave atop the 150, oxegentating the water like none other.

I have always manually turned my lights on and off, as well as manually topped off my freshwater as well. Once I make the switch, I plan to program the it2080's to be a halfhour off in the am to simulate a sunrise, and then even out over the afternoon, and add a halfhour off again from right to left, to simulate a sunset. I have a JBJ ATO I hooked up, and it gets the job done. The 150 probably goes through about 5 gallons of RO every 3 or so days.

so you are going to be running 4 PHs on your 150?

I think so, and here are my thoughts as to why:

1.) I can run them all at lower speeds, putting less stress on the motors.

2.) If I lose power, there will be not question about if the tank will be oxygenated enough. The MP's are hooked to a battery backup. I plan to get an UPS down the line for other basic things like the JB's. I didn't have a reef tank when the power crashed a few summer ago for about a week, but I had friends that did, it wasn't pretty. If I was in a house the answer would be a generator.

3.) The random flow I'm getting watching the sand shift on different settings is awesome, from top to bottom. And I still have +1 MP40 that I can add from the 57.

I'm thinking about hooking the JB's into a splitter (with the lights) so they run off the same power, and controlling the JB's via apex to turn on and off at random times throughout the day, that way the tank isn't in a constant state of perpetual turbulence.

If you do end up going in the direction of a LPS/softy tank I dont think you are going to want that much flow though.....

Nope, I definitly would not! It's a battle for me. I want to keep the SPS I have, but then I think... what if I just put it over. And then I think about how upset I would be if it died and I didn't just sell it, and then I think about how upset I would be if I sold it and didn't transfer it over, and then I think about what if I transfered it over, and it did really well, and then something happened and it died and....

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm not solid on the decision here. I talked it over with a friend, and he mentioned a valid point, that I'd be sucked back into SPS after a few months. I don't know, that SPS money could get me some nice zoas to start growing out...
