  1. Good question. I think I went with 5%, and when the lights are on you can't see any of my white plumbing behind it. However, you can certainly go darker with good results. Mine is such that when viewed from the back (looking through the tint) you can see into the tank. This is helpful in the event that you drop something behind your rockwork
  2. I used window tint (available at any auto parts store) and am very pleased. It has been on my tank for around 4 years now and has survived two tank moves. If you go that route, be sure to take your time in applying it, and spend the extra work squeegeeing the bubbles out. Sent using my Windows Phone.
  3. I think fosters and smith is usually around $50 shipped for 200g RC box. If you use regular instant ocean, I have an almost full bucket you can grab. Sent using my Windows Phone.
  4. Welcome, Shawn! Woodbridge reefer here as well. Nice to see more folks down thus way. Sent using my Windows Phone.
  5. Great job! With a tank like yours, you should be writing more--share the secrets
  6. I moved to N.Va from Charlotte. There are some great SW stores down there (Fintastic was amazing when I lived there) and the local club had a healthy population. Check out Carolinafishtalk.com and rasoc.org Good luck with the move, and enjoy the cost of living down there!
  7. I have been using a jebao dc rerurn pump 24/7 for over 2 years now with no issues. Sent using my Windows Phone.
  8. You could always go with a 10w LED "flood light." They sell tons of them on eBay and probably amazon as well. Sent using my Windows Phone.
  9. You have the basic biological filtration already established by adding the cured LR. I still recommend letting the tank run without fish for as long as you are able. This will allow the microfauna time to truly develop. A few pods and worms are great, but you will see much more start appearing if you let the tank mature without fish for as many months as possible. Sent using my Windows Phone.
  10. I have never used them and don't think I ever will. I have seen great tanks with and without. I say try it for a few weeks/months and observe for any ill effects. Happy reefing! Sent using my Windows Phone.
  11. I did a FW dip with no ill effects. Never tried anything more powerful though. Sent using my Windows Phone.
  12. +3 You are in luck because leathers are one of the easiest corals to frag. Grab a blade and get after it! Sent using my Windows Phone.
  13. I have both an older DC6k (been running 24/7 since December 2012, and the new DCT model. Both are good to go in my opinion. I have had zero issued with either, but have only had the DCT up for around 3 months. Sent using my Windows Phone.
  14. Time and consistency. Algae is there in some form with every tank -don't sweat it. I too lost my first piece of red dragon and have no idea why. now it grows like a weed in the exact same tank! In my experience, a truly settled tank is the key to success with SPS. Established LR, a refugium that is as large as possible, and stability in husbandry are the keys to success; not high-priced hardware. Don't give up! In a few months hit me up and i will give you some more red dragon to grow out
  15. You guys nailed it! Peaceful hitchhiker that will readily breed in your tank. Sent using my Windows Phone.
