epleeds November 14, 2012 November 14, 2012 Something happened... Looks like the tank is taking a new direction. I knew you were going to cave. Do u have a link for the sound proofing material? Does it do a good job? I need to add something to mine.

My stand is open in back and one side, so there is a good amount of room for sound to escape. With that said the foam definately makes a difference, but it's not HUGE or anything. I would think in a more closed in stand it would help more. I want to also say this stuff is NOT cheap. I looked all over and here is the best price I found for a qty I thought would be good. http://www.amazon.com/Auralex-WEDGIE-24-Wedgies--Panels-Charcoal/dp/B0002D05KA/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1352937003&sr=1-2&keywords=auralex
Ryan S November 15, 2012 November 15, 2012 I used a twin mattress pad from walmart. $10. can do a whole stand. MUCH cheaper than mike's stuff. i saw that at the local guitar/music store. it might work better, but it's so much more money. both are foam... as for coral... we knew that was gonna happen.

Since when are you concerned about saving a buck? lol
Ryan S November 15, 2012 November 15, 2012 (edited) you make it sound like I am rich - I work for the govt - def not and $100 vs $10... that extra $90 = more... CORALS!!! Edited November 15, 2012 by Ryan S
BowieReefer84 November 21, 2012 Author November 21, 2012 Yes.. Corals... HAHAHAHAHAHA.. Told you.!! O well... I forgot how easy soft corals are though. This is going to be fun.
trockafella November 21, 2012 November 21, 2012 I agree completely. Ive been very satisfied moving away from SPS. There are so many nice LPS or softies out there..
Sharkey18 November 21, 2012 November 21, 2012 Looks awesome. I LOVE softies and they are so easy! My soft corals and LPS loved my dirty water tank...
BowieReefer84 November 21, 2012 Author November 21, 2012 I agree completely. Ive been very satisfied moving away from SPS. There are so many nice LPS or softies out there.. Yea, less stress and pests to worry about. Are there any pests that affect soft corals? I'm not aware of any. Looks awesome. I LOVE softies and they are so easy! My soft corals and LPS loved my dirty water tank... Thank you. I plan to go with the GSP, Frogspawn, blue shrooms, red shrooms, a yellow leather, and maybe a torch or hammer. Also, live aquaria has a few nice captive bread soft corals I haven't seen locally that I may look into.
surf&turf November 22, 2012 November 22, 2012 I have a frag of this you can have, should glow under leds.
BowieReefer84 November 22, 2012 Author November 22, 2012 What's that? Sinulara? Ever make it anywhere Gaithersburg or Howard County, MD?
surf&turf November 22, 2012 November 22, 2012 A neon green Nepthea, I'll shoot you a pm when I'm over that way.
BowieReefer84 December 7, 2012 Author December 7, 2012 Added an indo-pacific scoly (Acanthophyllia) and a purple torch frag on 12/5. LPS it is I guess. I have to say the colors of the LPS under the led's is really good. Still planning to add fish starting in January.
Coral Hind December 7, 2012 December 7, 2012 Congrats on the new corals! Going fallow is always a boring time. I'm sure it will be nice to have some movement in the tank. Are you going to QT the fish this time?

Ryan S December 10, 2012 December 10, 2012 Nice piece. Love feeding them and watching them eat. Super cool.
Coral Hind December 10, 2012 December 10, 2012 Nice looking coral. That's a big portion of food, did it actually swallow all of that?
BowieReefer84 December 10, 2012 Author December 10, 2012 Nice looking coral. That's a big portion of food, did it actually swallow all of that? No, that piece was too large. I removed what it did not eat from the tank. In the future pieces will be much smaller. Goal is to feed twice a week.
