  1. We should be able to order MRC parts, I believe we have done this in the past for other customers (OEM lids for swabbies). Shoot Justin a PM since he was the one who handled that account in the past.
  2. I use hot melt glue all the time for prototyping. Granted, I buy an industrial strength version that you probably are not going to find at the corner store, but I wouldn't hesitate to try a craft type for what you want to do. As far as the reef safe aspect, I will let you decide for yourself but I have never worried about the active ingredient EVA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethylene-vinyl_acetate
  3. Acrylic prices are crazy daisy these last few months, but I have a hunch that Coralvues increase is tied to labor more than petrol....
  4. After we finish our holiday recovery we plan on doing another one of these on a little larger scale. The tentitive plan is for ato deluxe in february.
  5. There are actually quite a few user videos on youtube of mr5's in action. If you are running rox it might be worth while trying to reverse the input and output lines. I think this would give a nice gentle flow that would have the best chance at keeping the media contained.
  6. Hey guys, we did take some time off over the holidays but it looks like you all figured it out. A bit of history..... Cs1.1 was a single pass skimmer Cs1.2 was a single pass with a recirc kit option Cs1.3 (current version) is a recirc skimmer that can be converted to a single pass configuration if desired. The recirc requires a second feed pump in the 100-300gph range, a small powerhead is the recommendation.
  7. Sounds like dirty coils to me. Get some spray foam coil cleaner and follow the directions on the can. Be sure to cover up any electrical connections with plastic bags and duct tape before rinsing with water. Give the unit a full 3 days to dry out before starting it back up, just to make sure no stray water shorts anything. I have considerable experience with commercial HVAC and by not doing the above first, it is the equivilent of calling an electrician because a light doesn't work without first checking the breaker box. I can also tell you that just by looking at the coils, you cannot determine if they are dirty or not.
  8. What was the malfuction? Electrical? Not chilling?
  9. If chloramines are your concern, you should be able to knock that out with a simple two stage cabon filter. I don't know enough about your source water to say it would be a complete solution but if I were in your shoes I would think it would pay to research it a bit more. Your still going to have to lug the water unless you put down the big bucks for a huge pressure tank, but if you can eliminate the RO portion of your filter system and just run 3 stage sediment-carbon blocks then a small pressure tank could easily keep up with that volume IMHO.
  10. There are a bunch of good solutions but I think the most important piece of information to determine the best solution is missing. How much water do you need to at a time? The 2 gallon solution will look a lot differant than the 10 gallon solution. Do you need RODI or is just RO sufficient?
  11. Lowes in alexandria stocks sch80 pipe and fittings. Not all do.
  12. I think the flow from mp40 is better than 6105. I think the flow from 6205 is better than mp40. If you can swing the 6205's you will not be let down.
  13. Howdy Josh. Yeah, been a crazy past 2 years but I am finally setting up my tank again so I plan to be around these parts a little more often
  14. Pro rendering here.... If you do it like this just be sure to secure the tee to the bucket so it can't fall below the water line. Untitled by firefliesdelray, on Flickr
  15. Guys, the tee method will work, it does not matter what pump you use. If it is a high pressure pump just put the end of the tee higher. You can also put a tee INSIDE your RODI top off bucket and put a small john guest ball valve on it, simply close the valve enough that only a little bit of water comes out of it when the pump is on and the rest goes to the stirrer. When the pump turns off the siphon will break.
  16. Does the pump do anything? What skimmer model?
  17. Your description of flow is exactly correct. The skimmer pumps air and water, it uses a venturi to get the air and the water is constantly recirculating inside the skimmer in a closed loop arrangement. I sold my brewing stuff long ago, I sure had some fun times with it though
  18. My suggestion here is to add a second tank in the office. I won't call it a sump because by definition it wouldn't be. This second tank should be placed higher in elevation than your RSM. So, if your RSM water level is 60" from the floor, then your second tank water level should be 70" above the floor. Second tank has 2 chambers, one for skimmer and one for refugium. The back of this tank is drilled and fitted with a bulkhead so the water flows out of it, down hill, through the wall, and finally to your RSM back chamber. Then simply add a very small powerhead like a maxijet 400 or even a minijet to pump water from your RSM to the second tank. There are some finer details that you would need to implement to ensure this worked perfectly and safely but that part is simply trial and error with some simple plumbing fiddling.
  19. I don't think so. It was very close already and I just wanted to make sure our first one was sucessful and you all got your new AVAST gear.
  20. We are at 10 paid orders now so they will ship on Monday. As a little bonus, we are extending the max # of units to 20. So 20% off all lockers until we hit 20 or midnight Sunday, whatever comes first.
  21. shared with the RC community. Thanks guys!
  22. We are at 8 orders paid. I would like to keep it all WAMAS so didn't share the link yet. 2 more to go......
